I think this is a studio affect done on his voice on purpose, nothing more. It's sounds very similar to something they'd do on hip hop/r+b albums.

What the fuck, am I listening to the same album or what? I didn't notice one goddamn thing that made me think it's a skip, how can people not be more open to the fact that the track is supposed to be that way? The thought of a skip in the cd didn't even cross my mind

sounds like a bad copy n paste to me, but if Axl did it intentionally then fair enough.

On UYI1 theres that nasty scratching sound at the start of 'Dead Horse' (56secs in) that i used to think was a CD error.

Even from the first time that I heard it, I never noticed anything about it that made me think that it was an error in any way, shape, or form. I hardly even noticed anything out of the ordinary from reading this thread. It's obviously intentional.

Just kick back, relax, and enjoy.  peace

Completely off topic but...

....the engineer at Sterling Sound who was responsible for the mastering has completely distanced himself from the final product that is "Death Magnetic".  That's almost unheard of. The guy responsible for the mastering...Ted Jensen...said that Rubin brick walled the mixes he was given.  In other words, that's what the source material, for the ALBUM (notice it sounds fine in Guitar Hero) sounded like...because Rubin wanted it to sound that way.

With regards to my previous post concerning the similar cut & paste job on Don't Cry, I hear the join at 4:29 in the song. It's harder to make out and miles away from what is heard on Scraped. Maybe Axl did intend it that way on Scraped but that doesn't stop it sounding like an error. It's as if someone went crazy with Auto-Tune  ok

Continued OT.. sorry...  Embarrassed

Yeah, I knew it really wasn't the guys who'd normally be responsible. And I have the GH3 version which is the one I listen to. Sometimes it's great to have a perfectionist running the show. Especially when his vision matches mine/the audience.  ok

Definetly a skip at 1.19

Would never have noticed if it wasnt for u guys rant

Love the fact Axl would claim its deliberate

'oh yeah, eh, we deliberately put an error in a song we'd recorded and re-recorded for a decade, ya know for....er....why the hell did we do that again?'

Still a great song, error or not

Didn't Axl just confirm there is something "intentional" at 1:19?  The whole audio doesn't skip, just the vocals.

Heard the skip today, it is a skip in the vocals, not a big deal or anything, and I really don't mind, but it is noticeable.

1:19 there's a one second glitch in the beat/vocal line... i noticed it, then saw this thread

I did think it was a skip initially.

It's so brief its not a big deal.  I have two copies and it's on both at the 1:19 mark of Scraped.

But IT IS NOT A SKIP to anyone still wondering.

Axl said it was not a defect.  Good enough for me.

Whatever it is that happens at1:19 is a bit annoying but I'm glad I can only pick it out once in the song.
