It's such a great song. I've listened to the live performance so many times already and I hope the studio version will be just as good. One question though. What's a single these days? Will we be able to buy the "single" or will it just be played on the radio to promote the album that's coming?

awful song based off that clip, but the sound is poor so i'm saving judgment for next week. i have high hopes that there's some kick ass hard rock on this album. looking forward to it!

Wow, really?  Most people seem to love this song and im getting the vibe that its one of the strongest on the album.

I havent listened to it in about a month and its still stuck in my head. lol.
Based on this and the teasers that ive heard, the album should be cool.

By the Sword to me is better than 85% of the VR songs....  So people must not like singer.. Has a great riff, bridge, and solo....  We know its not slash they dislike, so it must be the singer..  I don't think this will be the biggest hit or best song.  I think the song with Fergie could be big due to her popularity, but with Kid Rock, Cornell, Adam Levine, and MShadows on the album as well, there will be many "single" possibilities.

For me it's just too hard to tell what this song will sound like. It's a piss poor video sound wise. Stockdale's voice swallows up the rest of the band in this live clip. I'm sure Slash's guitar will be turned up for the studio version.

The solo sounded promising.
