Wikileaks Says GUNS N' ROSES Raised Flags With Chinese Communist Party

August 24, 2011

According to Businessinsider.com, of the more than 5,500 State Department cables released by Wikileaks in late August - most blandly refer to climate, diplomacy, censorship and the economy - but not all.

GUNS N' ROSES raised flags in the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) with their rendition of Government of the People's Republic of China and Falun Gong causing a country-wide ban of their new album Chinese Democracy.

Mentioning the ban in a 2008 cable a Chinese official said "many people do not like this music as it is too loud."

for quality reasons i always liked it that Axl was goin for the lowest compressed version out of the 3 given to him.
but "Bob Ludwig" from "Gateway Mastering & DVD" is not telling the truth at all because the official released CD still doesnt have full dynamics. here are the frequencies:

as you can see many frequencies "cut" above 0db. its still much much better than some current Judas Priest (live) or Metallica (DM) releases, but it still CUTS FREQUENCIES leading to loosing the full dynamics Bob L. is claming to have on CD.
for further info on the "loudness war" check this short but informative clip here:

Too loud was only the excuse put forth for the general public.  Can I just say to all those folks who thought that I was over reacting when they toured over there, read between the lines!  Thank god booklet #2 hadn't hit the net.  But now that's out there, there's that little comment about Rhaid and a band headed to S AM.  Axl needs to be careful in the shower!  Cheesy

I think after they couldn't make enough sense of the lyrics to take offense they just decided it was "too loud". If it's too loud you're too old, or too Chinese.  Wink

You should have seen the cover they wanted to do. It wasn't a glove, believe me.
