I'm gonna agree with the new Turbonegro album being the best of the year so far! Sad to see Hank go, but a new start for the band and a good one!! ok

Had no idea VOD had a new album coming out, will have to get it!

Yeah dude, the new VOD is awesome.  They came back HARD.  This isn't just a cash in album and reunion tour.  Its a legit album and I think this is going to be a real tour, not the usual "last tour ever" cash grab.  Not sure where you are located, but they are playing Brooklyn on Nov. 24.  My friend and I will be there.  Both huge VOD fans since 1997.

Might as well give you my faves from the new album:

Green Day's Uno! gets my vote for album of the year thus far, Billie Joe also gets my vote for flip out of the year as well.

Just have to say what a good idea this thread was. I have enjoyed a lot of good music I probably wouldn't bother to find if it wasn't for you guys.

While we're speaking of trio's. Danko Jones' Rock and Roll is Black and Blue is quite a good album. Nothing ground-breaking, same old Danko, but one of the better 2012-releases I've heard so far  Smiley

My list has changed quite a bit since my first post. There are so many albums I wanna hear coming out next month that chances are I'll post a third and final list at the end of November. But for now it goes.

18 - Rodrigo y Gabriela - Area 52
17 - Silversun Pickups - Neck Of The Woods
16 - Skunk Anansie - Black Traffic
15 - Tenacious D - Rize Of The Fenix
14 - Metallica - Beyond Magnetic
13 - Dinosaur Jr. - I Bet On Sky
12 - Walking Papers - Walking Papers
11 - Halestorm - The Strange Case Of...
10 - Green Day - Uno!
9 - Yes Sir Boss - Desperation State
8 - Brad - United We Stand
7 - The Jane Austen Argument - Somewhere Under The Rainbow
6 - Marilyn Manson - Born Villain
5 - Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra - Theatre Is Evil
4 - Serj Tankian - Harakiri
3 - Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline
2 - Stone Sour - House Of Gold & Bones Part I
1 - Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania

I'm expecting Aerosmith, Deftones, Soundgarden and Green Day (again) to infiltrate this list next month. But you never know...

I've been listening to King Animal non stop since it streamed last week, but just picked up the CD today.
Far and away the best record of the year for me, but 2012 was a pretty good year overall.

Soundgarden - King Animal
Mark Lanegan - Blues Funeral
Down - IV Part I, The Purple EP
Forgetters - S/T
Walking Papers - S/T
Creature with the Atom Brain - The Birds Fly Low
Slash - Apocalyptic Love
Wallace Vanborn - Lions, Liars, Guns and God

I've only bought 2 albums released in 2012.

Turbonegro - Sexual Harassment
Orange Goblin - A Eulogy for the Damned

I've pre-ordered two records arriving later this month (Danko Jones - Rock n Roll is black and blue and Down : Down IV Part 1 ? The Purple EP)

I'm sure the coming records from Ghost, Graveyard and Rival Sons will be making it to my collection as well. I'll give Th?str?m's "Bev?pna dig med Vingar" a shot whenever I get my next "Th?str?m phase".

Danko Jones album didn't show up When it was supposed to so I cancelled the order. I'll listen to it on Spotify and see if it's worthy of getting into my collection Tongue

Graveyard was a bit of dissappointment. But only because the previous album was such an instant hit with me. I'm sure that if I give the new one some time it'll grow on me.

I really liked the first half of Rival Sons' but thought it dipped after that. Haven't listened enough to it after that.

Down : Down IV Part 1 ? The Purple EP and Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m,A,A,d city gets added to my list of best of 2012.

Okay... here's how my list looks at the end of the year...

20: Tenacious D - Rize Of The Fenix
19: Metallica - Beyond Magnetic
18: Green Day - !Tre!
17: Dinosaur Jr. - I Bet On Sky
16: Deftones - Koi No Yokan
15: Walking Papers - Walking Papers
14: Halestorm - The Strange Case Of...
13: Green Day - !Uno!
12: Yes Sir Boss - Desperation State
11: Brad - United We Stand
10: The Jane Austen Argument - Somewhere Under The Rainbow
9: Tremonti - All I Was
8: Marilyn Manson - Born Villain
7: Aerosmith - Music From Another Dimension!
6: Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra - Theatre Is Evil
5: Serj Tankian - Harakiri
4: Soundgarden - King Animal
3: Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline
2: Stone Sour - House Of Gold And Bones Part 1
1: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania

Also, they didn't release new albums, but I've got to give a mention to The Rolling Stones and Adele, who with 'Doom and Gloom' and 'Skyfall' released possibly the two strongest singles of the entire year.

Lots of good records and EP's in 2012, these are a few I have been listening to the most, some more stuff comes out next week I probably have a solid 20 I can list after that.

1. Van Halen "Different Kind of Truth"
2. My Chemical Romance "Conventional Weapons 1 and 2"
3. Pennywise "All or Nothing"
4. Green Day "Dos"
5. Green Day "Tre"
6. Blink 182 "Dogs eating Dogs"
7. Green Day "Uno"
8 Punk Goes Pop Vol. 5
9 Further Seems Forever "Penny Black"
10.NOFX "Self Entitled"
11. Slash "Apocalyptic Love"
12. Pierce the Veil "Collide with the Sky"
13. Aerosmith "Music from Another Dimension"

oh and of course the new Steven Adler album, LMAO, jk, if I wanted a dated cock rock fix I would listen to the new Hinder record.

Well, at this point I think I can narrow it down to one absolute favorite. Jack White's Blunderbuss still wins. Lot's of great albums this year though. Overall it was a pretty great year for music.
