Okay, so after 4 years, a major change in the setlist.  Singing Yesterdays has to be a dream for more than me.  Prostitute, Used to Love her, and TWAT, plus civil war.  Even riff raff.  Plus Axl left all the other songs in the list.  When you look at last night's setlist, is it not the best set list of all time?  Thoughts?

This is number one for me.  Especially since his voice is $$$ right now.

I thought Prostitute last night was as good as any song he sings live.  I am blown away by the power at 3:00 and 4:20

That's why they don't play any of the classics, cos they are slash's... Get real won't you, when NR is playing and the solo starts, the iconic image of slash on the piano strumming his stuff doesn't enter your head? The two are inseparable... Everybody knows this. Slash is a major part of the set-list, saying it isn't so is BS. And Axl knows it. Its no different when Miles sings PC, sure he might have wished he wrote it but everybody know he didn't.

The truth is everybody has history, you either accept it and move on or try and forget it and bury it. Coma in my view, isn't played because having seen live recordings of it show that it fucks Axl to sing it. In the studio, in theory you could sing one syllable a month and eventually you could get it pitch perfect, live no such luxuryv Wink

Really?  I disagree.

The June 1991 version in Cleveland is a little ragged, but so is a lot of that tour.

But 2.19.92 in Tokyo?  4.9.92 in Chicago?  Both very solid.  Axl nails it, even the long passage at the end.

4.10.93 in Omaha is also good.  That's the one that wound up on the Japanese 'Live Era'.  I know a lot of 'Live Era' is comically enhanced in studio after the fact, but I actually felt that track sounded very natural.  And again, a very solid performance.

Coma is not avoided because it's one or the other's..it's avoided because it's not the best fit for a live show (Humble opinion, of course)

Personally, Coma is some of my favorite of Axl's singing of any song ever

I got to see Coma in Chicago in 92 and it was phenominal! I always figured it wasn't played more because it's difficult to sing live.

With all the stops and starts and tempo changes, I'm sure its not easy.

I just always thought they were pretty good at it.  And I could see a whole production with video screens.  Guy on a gurney, doctors looking over him, etc.

2 sets, no encores, do away with WTTJ, SCOM, and PC. First song would be Night Train, last song would be Coma.

I bet they do Coma again at some point.  He pulls out some UYI tracks each tour.  In 2006, Don't Cry was not played, but now it is.  Estranged also.  Then Civil war in Nashville.  Then with Izzy 14 years.  Yesterdays......I guess my whining about setlists doesnt look too good now.

 confused

Axl on these last few shows was about as good as we could ask for.  SO thankful.

UYI stuff is cool and I'm glad it shows up, but I want Axl to press forward with what he was doing with the new band, get more Chinese Democracy tracks in there, unreleased stuff that hasn't seen the light of day, something to push the whole idea of the new band forward.
