it's the biggest paradox ever that the fans of the same people who abandoned guns n' roses attack axl for keeping the name and being the only one that bothered keeping the band alive (and no it wasn't for money, get your shallow brains to look up musical integrity), all while they would like to see slash and duff back in the band, they just don't like the fact that axl is the one who didn't walk out on guns n' roses... oh, the bitterness...

My facts are all in order: here's what I wrote earlier in this thread:

Why Do You Think Axl Really Kept the Guns N' Roses name?

erm... because:
Guns n'Roses is associated with 'Appetite for Destruction'
one of the best hard rock albums of all time  ok

I'm 100% happy with my reply  Smiley

i wish some people would grow a brain, stop thinking shallow and get over the bitterness over the fact that slash and duff, the great heroes they are, walked out on guns n' roses and left the band to die.

slash: "i don't wanna work that hard"

yeah i can see that, judging from his VR/snakepit solos.

the illusion solos were great, obviously he needed axl to pull that shit out of him...

Your right, Axl turned Slash into the awesome guitar player that he is. Good ol' Axl, is there anything he can't do?

He kept the name because it'll sell more albums than 'Axl & Chums'. Unfortunately now its an albatross for him because he has so much to live up to.

i'm not gonna get into this debate for the 1000th time, i'll just say that i've always figured it must be kind of hard to be a gnr fan when the only people you are really a fan of are the ones that quit on gnr. i mean, isn't it a little tough to deal with? a little embarrasing to defend these quitters all the time? that must be why you hate axl so much, seeing as he actually stood by guns n' roses and everything...

Why did the 'quitters' walk away though?

Seems that they are unanimous in saying that Axl was a dictator and Guns was no longer a band, just something that he wanted sole control over and it was either his way or the highway. I dont blame them. They werent quitters, they'd just had enough of being treated like dicks and employees by a guy who'd got to big for his (name embriodered) boots.

Axl stood by the name because at that time (1993-94) GNR was a massive name. Just because its a name doesnt mean thats what it is. If thats the case, then I'm going to change my name to Frank Sinatra and get a year residency at a casino in Vegas. After all, that'll be my name, so I'm obviously Frank Sinatra, is that right?

Why is everyone so quick to believe their side of the story?  Slash and Duff were shitfaced and /or high on smack on a nearly continual basis during those days but for some reason a lot of people just automatically believe everything they have to say about the situation

what a stupid way to compare it.  that makes sense at all.    I think you might end up having some legal trouble from the real Frank Sinatra if you tried that.   Axl owns the rights fair and square.   Besides, this isn't a vegas casino act.    If they were, I sure as hell wouldn't be here right now, I would be over on the strip at whatever casino they are playing   smoking

lol that's what I say! I think that Axl/Izzy chose which solo they would like to put in the musics. Without Axl, we would not hear November Rain, Estranged, Sweet Child O' mine, Don't Cry, Roquet Queen, Welcome to the jungle... Wow, I won't list all the musics. Without Slash, I seriously can say that sweet child o' mine would be a bit different and other musics too. Imo Axl was always the soul of GN'R. Anyway, I think that Izzy helped a lot too. Axl is doing great musics and Slash is doing... well, his musics aren't even close to the illusions musics. Is slash a genius? I don't think that a genius would not write really good songs after leaving a band. I mean, the genius probably always has been Axl. Maybe Izzy too...  sorry VR fans, I had to say that.
I don't usually see heroes leaving. I see heroes fighting till the end and after all the kind of trouble, they win. Who is the hero in GN'R? Cheesy

they quit cause they wanted to. You can believe in what you want. Axl himself said that, like Oasis, they couldn't find the best way to everyone.

He kept the name because hes the only original member who didnt quit. I think slash and duff have said that the band broke up, But i personally think that they just had a long break, Then the guys all quit.
