Title: eodm... + why did I get 3rd bad karma point?! anyone?
Post by: Lucky on November 30, 2006, 11:22:53 AM
well I guess someone is gonna ask it sooner or later...

so whats the scoop on this one :D

a)it got deleted because it's BS?
b)because management said so?
c)absoultely no reason?
d)because its true?
e)because someone accidently pressed the wrong button?
f)something else?

It got deleted because there's already a bunch of topics on it. Old news by now.....

Title: Re: eodm...
Post by: Lucky on November 30, 2006, 11:33:36 AM
oh come on...
thats why the dead hose is there...
to store old news threads...

this was a little more than just any old article...
it implicates some rumours... and mentiones some events...
and if dumb rumours should be delted, then why is there a rumour thread on the gnr forum?...

Title: Re: eodm...
Post by: EFISH on November 30, 2006, 11:37:06 AM
Yeah but whats the point of having the same "news" which was just one paragraph, 20 times? It doesnt make any sense. Just use the search tool and find the old threads and discuss it there.

Title: Re: eodm...
Post by: Lucky on November 30, 2006, 11:39:10 AM
I cant, because the old thread is locked?!

That band has gotten enough PR already.

If you think that news story is 100% true, then good for you...

Nobody else had seen the incident mentioned at that show.

I've always been a great skeptic when it comes to unoffical news, (thats why I still think that it will be out in 2006)
but I think people like to make choices for them sealves to decide if its true or not.

I dont think that storry is 100% true, but I also dont think that it's 100% bullshit.

and I dont think EODM need PR, and I really dont think anyone would go buy one of their albums
because someone called them "Piggeons of shit metal".
in fact if anyone gets a bad deal from the whole incident/publicity than its EODM/POSM

I am starting to come around on this deleting threads stuff.  If the piehole pigeon is obviously full of shit, so be it. Thats the reason this board reigns supreme over others, it is not as flooded with BS threads.

I don't agree, this is EODM's side of the story, this is new new's. It's not the same story we have all seen in various music news sites, newspapers, and other media stating they had been kicked off the tour, called a name etc. As far as I am concerned this is more news worthy, interesting, and relevant than 90% of the threads that are kept here. Don't get me wrong, I am a GNR fan, I read this site daily, I'm also attending and looking forward to this coming Mondays show in Winnipeg. But I am also a realist, and I appreciate honesty. Likely this story is the most truth we have heard on the matter.  Big deal he called Axl a name who cares, re-add the post. What are you so scared of?

Find me one fan who went to the cleveland show that can verify the bass throwing story, if you can, then I will gladly stand corrected.

"Find me one fan who went to the cleveland show that can verify the bass throwing story, if you can, then I will gladly stand corrected"

My point is its new news, who cares if he through his bass or not! Regardless its still likely the closest we have got to the real story.

And that is my point. If making up some bass throwing tirade is the closest we can get to the real truth, it is better discussed at blabbermouth.  How is it "the real story" if the guy is full of shit?

Ok, so I just read the "new" article, I thought this was about the paragraph of GNR puns he used...

What idiots, yeah Axl picked up Tommy's bass and threw it at him. HAhahahahha! Wow, what a dumbass to straight up lie to the media. There is no way in hell that happened.

Title: Re: eodm...
Post by: Transcona on November 30, 2006, 01:56:52 PM
The interesting parts of the story have nothing to do with throwing of bass guitars.

"He wasn't even there when we played. He got there about 30 minutes after we got done playing"

Hughes claims that his tour manager then received a call later that night from Rose's management apologising for the singer's actions and he asked them to return for the remaining dates of Guns n' Roses' three-week tour.

"It was like a total mutiny on the part of his band and everyone. I could hear screaming in the dressing room, 'Those are our friends and you've insulted our friends'. Then at 4am in the morning our tour manager gets a phone call which essentially amounted to: 'Axl's thought about it, he thought you guys were a band getting shoved on his tour from the label. He's really sorry and you're more than welcome to finish the tour'.

Regardless if this is true or not its NEW news regarding the incident! It should still be included here without being deleted. Do you want to talk about Axl's braids, his attire, spend time guessing release dates, or do you want to read something a little more interesting and relevant?

Don't get me wrong dude Axl's one of a kind, but if anyone is really full of shit here it likely to be him more so than Jesse Hughes.

Don't get me wrong, I am a GNR fan, I read this site daily...

lately, I've seen many people start their posts this way...
And I think it's a shame that it came to that,
because every time someone makes a slightly diferent post than the mainstream, he gets bashed by 50 mindless motherfuckers who are only browsing the forum to attack.

I personally believe that there's some truth to the EODM statement,
and I dont see why people are not allowed to discuss it.
the deletion/censoring only adds to the mystery, and makes EODM more credable, since the censoring
can be interpreted as GNR trying to hide something, burry the evidence,...

edit:
and when/why did I get my 3rd bad karma?!

I havent posted a single thing today except in this thread + EODM thread that got deleted in 5 seconds!

Something many of you freedom of speech advocates don't understand:

This ia a GN'R fan message board. We like and support the band

When somebody posts a thread with negative content about the band and/or its members, we get a thread with a bunch of people saying "what a dumbass" and some who say "it must be true!" because they'll agree with anything bad written about the band (since their fav members left ten years ago).

It doesn't matter if you keep saying "this article is bullshit", we still get those "supporters" claiming we're being lied to and the article is in fact the correct truth. According to them, the ones lying all the time is the band. Everybody else are always telling the truth about GN'R.

If you keep repeating a lie enough times, chances are these so called fans will convince other people the lies are in fact the truth. So, thanks to your freedom of speech, we've made sure more people believe the bullshit written about the band.

Lastly, what kind of fan would like to come to a fan site to read thread after thread about how much their favorite band sucks and how everybody hates them?

And do we suddenly stop supporting the band by admiting Axl was very childish in his remark?

Also, there were several statements made on the article. Did you get confirmation that all of them were false? Seems to me you're only forbiding people from discussing it based on your opinion.

who cares about these guys...they played one show and now they aren't on the tour anymore...i mean axl coulda had a bit more tact but fact is that these guys no longer have anything to do with GnR...what mare is there to say? reports show that tommmy didn't toss his bass so that would lead me to beleive the rest of the article is trash too :peace:

There was a thread where you could've posted that. Do you need an article to post that?

But my post was talking generally about how these things (unfortunately) works.

Jarmo,

The majority of the people reading this board are massive fans. Regardless of what is said or posted here, they'll remain fans. Censoring useless posts, or questionable behaviour is your choice and understood, but censoring relevant (true or not) news from more legit sources in my mind creates a negative vibe just as bad or worse than the article itself.

I think members are starting to get suspicious when you delete certain things like for example the nme.com article without explanation first. By doing so they are now more likely to put even more weight into the so called lies because they likely believe managment has requested you to remove it.

I'm a fan, but I hate censorship more than I love gnr. I don't need someone to lead me to believe in the band by withholding information. I'll still be a fan at the end of the day regardless. Make sense?

It contains falsehoods,
So why do you call it "news"?
Oh, wait...you said "new's".... :-*

But, seriously,
A big part's been proven false!
Why believe any??

McGann,

This is the last I'll comment on the topic. Do you not at all get it? What I said is not about the article itself. It has nothing to do with the info being true or false. It is 100% about censoring topics that have every right to be included on this board.

Its not censoring. If the mods arent going to delete/move/merge anything, then whats the point of having mods? Lets just make it a total free-for-all! Nah, thats not how it works on succesful forums. If you care so much, then make your own forum, and don't have any mods or anything. Have fun!

Oh, I got your point.
Your "logic" is badly flawed.
Why discuss BULLSHIT?

If that's what you want,
Go to "The Jungle" section.
Talk conspiracies.

Fiction is OK
But NEVER disguised as truth
It validates lies.

Yes, I get your point,

Why should an article that obviously is full of crap be included here?  The EODM have gotten way too much attention already now they are taking to lying to get more.  The people that keep posting this crapola over and over are just attention hounds not even people who care about freedom of speech.

All you get when you post that garbage is 18 pages full of people arguing over it.  If you care that much about what the EODM have to say then you should go post about it on their forum.

You do not make the call of what deserves to be here and what doesn't.

In addition, we also remove images that have been manipulated in Photoshop. Because they fool a lot of people and we don't want to help them spread.

I am behind anything that you could file under inappropriate. Delete it, ban the user, whatever you see fit, thats what mods & admins are for. I'm not against that at all.

well could I have it back?
Since someone was ovviously screwing around with my karma for no reason...

and is this allowed to be posted

"GUNS N' ROSES' manager Merck Mercuriadis has responded to the claims by the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL leader Jesse "The Devil" Hughes that GN'R bassist Tommy Stinson threw down his bass in disgust after Axl Rose went off on the EAGLES after Hughes and Co. opened for GN'R at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena Friday night (Nov. 24). EAGLES OF DEATH METAL took the stage in Cleveland to open the first of what was supposed to be 15 North American dates on the GUNS N' ROSES tour, but exited the trek after just that one performance following an onstage rant by Rose, during which he nicknamed the band "The Pigeons of Shit Metal" before informing his audience that the gig would be the EAGLES' last on the tour.

"When [Rose] called us the 'Pigeons of Shit Metal', Tommy Stinson took his bass off, threw it down and went, 'Fuck you, that's it!' to Axl," Hughes told MTV.com. "And then Axl picked [Stinson's] bass up and threw it at [him]."

Mercuriadis disagreed with Hughes' account. "There is no truth to either claim [that Rose fired a crew member or that Stinson threw down his bass] as evidenced by the fact that our crew remains identical to when the tour started almost six weeks ago, and to say Axl threw a bass at Tommy is pure fiction," he told MTV.com. "The EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were asked to leave the tour not only because GUNS N' ROSES' audience hated them and tore them apart but because they could not handle the response. They were supposed to play a 60-minute set but left the stage after 42 minutes due to the hostile reception. The facts do not support the image they are trying to portray, which is why they are attempting to put this spin on it."

Read more at MTV.com."
