I disagree? with the nay-sayers toward VR and would go into detail but I have not the energy and it would make no difference. For some reason the board, and? others, have dichotmized into "love them or hate them" based upon the GNR split. I would just say this: see Vr live and your opinion might change. In short, have an open mind. No one, at least that I can see, is saying VR is equal to or better than GNR. But to trash VR is silly. The album is solid and they are dynamite? live.

The album is sub par at best.

i guarantee that the people who are dissing scott havent seen him live.

i was just at the vr concert on friday and scott was so awesome to see live.  i was skeptical about him before but now i can see why they chose him.  that guy knows how to rock.  during the concert he went all the way to the other side of the stadium and all the way up to the top in the middle of 10,000 people to sing part of sex type thing...thats what a rockstar is all about!

Scott cant write?? I guess you never heard Sex Type thing, Wicked Garden, Big Empty, Sour Girl, etc. Before you judge someone, maybe you should go listen to one of their albums.

those songs are good and they show his talent, but I wish he had shown us that talent on Contraband.

GNR FOREVER!!!! AXL'S THE BEST!!!!!!!!!

Still, the most interesting thing about seeing VR live are Duff and Slash in my opinion.

/jarmo

i guarantee that the people who are dissing scott havent seen him live.

i was just at the vr concert on friday and scott was so awesome to see live.? i was skeptical about him before but now i can see why they chose him.? that guy knows how to rock.? during the concert he went all the way to the other side of the stadium and all the way up to the top in the middle of 10,000 people to sing part of sex type thing...thats what a rockstar is all about!

could'nt have put it better Budweiser Froggs i was a bit skeptical of him too.
But jarmo, you're killin' me!! i think Scott is one of, if not the most exciting, entertaining, and captivating frontman since Axl!!? I saw VR live at Roseland Ballroom in NYC last year and i loved scott so much that i looked into Stone Temple Pilots some more and got the albums. Before this i thought they were just Pearl Jam wannabes cuz i listened to the stupid media instead of listening for myself. Sure Core has obvious grunge/Pearl Jam influences but? the other albums are totally different. Stone Temple Pilots are INCREDIBLY underrated. Five albums, five unique sounds, and an absolutely? killer live show.

I will agree that based on their past bands, VR should be much better, but i think Contraband was decent and their live show is unbelievable. As i said before i was at first very skeptical of scott since GNR is my number one favorite band, but i gave him a chance and looked into STP stuff and now they are one of my favorite bands as well.

I am not sure who you are talking to, but if the response it to me, I don't have any kind of "infatuation" with Slash, or any of the other members of GNR/VR for that matter.

You are entitled to your opinion of course, but IMHFO the correct ordering of Slash't post-GNR albums is:

1. Ain't Life Grand
2. Contraband
3. It's 5 O'clock somewhere

But back to the thread: Scott is key ingredient why VR is so captivating live. I think Slash and Duff knew what they were doing when they recruited him.

Most people diss Scott coz he's "not" Axl. Velvet Revolver are not Guns n Roses, and SOME of us need to get used to that,.
Scott Weiland is doing a shit load more than Axl.
(Remember people- Chinese Democray??)
This still means that Axl is the number one frontman of all time though! ok

It was directed towards Mikkamakka... VR would have been a million times better if they got Bach or Josh Todd to be the frontman instean of weiland.

stp and scott's solo work owns contraband and everything slash and duff ever did.

But on VR ?? scott blows.

Why ? Idunno, all of a sudden he's wearing leather and having this fucking attitude. It doesn't suit him. It looks and sounds fake.

STP owns, VR  blows.

Everything you have stated here is false. Here is scott trying something different. Would you want to do the same fucking thing that you did ten years ago. Scott is a glam rocker through and through. Suits Slash and Duff, and is he ideal L.A. rock attitude.

Owns slash and duff? Are you kidding? I don't see dean deleo having his own signature guitars. And people screaming for dean before shows. As much as I like his work, dean is no Slash. Get a fucking clue.

Everything I stated is false? Are we talking about history here? Slash is god but face it, snakepit sucks compared to GNR, and yes STP is better than Snakepit, slash guitar work is  better than Dean but as a whole, STP owns snakepit. Don't make it a Dean Vs Slash battle, because it ain't. As for Scott trying something different, he did, if you knew something about STP you would know that Core sounds very different from Shangri la dee da and the latter sounds nothing like 12 bar blues. "Where's the man" and "Son" own every song on Contraband. But I don't blame Scott, It's not his fault that VR sucks, it's his fake chemistry with Slash and his short boring and uninspired solos.

You're just another VR fan in denial.

Get a clue, wake up and smell the coffee: You Have bad taste.

There are a couple of reasons why Scott work in Contraband is not as deep as his work in STP:

For one he is not on drugs

2) they didn't take their time with this record because theyir goal was to make an Appetite/Core agressive rock debut.

Now they can branch out with the 2nd album and the fact that they've developed chemistry through touring will make it even better!

no, but there's a difference between music that is fabricated/designed so that stupid teenage girls wanna buy it, and music that is self-made from scratch by a band of musicians, who also performs the songs instead of selling them to an 18 year-old future playboy-chick.

a real rock album selling as well as Contraband these days is very impressive!
and the album is rock solid, not the best rock album released, but it's definately not a bad album!
and yeah I agree with most of the people in here, Scott fuckin rocks, he's an incredible frontman!
the most exciting thing about seeing VR live is Slash, Duff and Scott! Matt and Dave are cool too though.

Man, it seems the longer Axl deprives his minions of his stupid little album the dumber his diehard fans get.

There does seem to be a direct correlation.

A year ago I didn't think they could possibly get any dumber. I was wrong.

I can't imagine what kind of posts we'll be seeing a year from now.
