I hate 50 way more. Grant it I know next to nothing about rap music but I mean when I hear his songs his voice sounds like he is on xanex and he mumbles all slow. Not to mention the lyrics are the same tired ass crap. Kanye from the stuff I've heard which, grant it, is just radio stuff seems to have some sort of message or ideas going on.

Typical ignorant response from you guys.? Rap music isn't ALL shit.? Kanye is a concious rapper who sings about interesting subjects.? He doesn't sing at all about "hoes and violence" like most rappers these days.? The song "Hey Mama" is one of the most emotional songs i've ever heard.? It's about Kanye's relationship with his mother and the times they've been through.? His song "Jesus Walks" talks about how all rappers want to sing about is hoes and guns and don't want to talk about important issues and says that if he rapped about anything else besides hoes+violence, his record wouldn't get played.

Plus, he uses samples to make the songs more interesting and the way he does it makes the songs very original (for example in "Through the Wire" he uses a sample of a song called through the fire and makes the singer's voice sound higher).? You guys hear mainstream rap and thats it.? While Kanye is mainstream, he's different from the rest of them - you should actually pick up some of his albums.? They are full of interesting sounding, emotional songs from a guy who really knows how to write lyrics.

This is seriously what i hate about most rock band fans.? They don't let their ears open to different sounds.? You guys have probably heard "Gold Digger" and thats it, which isn't much like most of Kanye's other songs.

& by the way that thing about 50 Cent is not true, he said he would still keep making albums (its just for the publicity) thats another way Kanye is different than most rappers - he doesn't like getting into feuds with people.? He knows his music will generate success, not saying he will stop making albums if he loses.

I like all kinds of music: Jazz, techno, rock, big band, old school rap and so on. I have Enya, Miles Davis, RUN DMC, Beasties, Beatles, Alice in Chains, Hall and Oates, John Coltrane etc etc in my CD collection.

I completely dislike this type of format-I think it sucks. But that doesn't mean I don't have an eclectic taste in music, it means I think these two SUCK.

I pretty much agree with this... Kanye is the same person he was before he hit it big.  I like how he knows that sometimes his arrogance can take over, he admits his faults, but also questions if it's possible for him to better himself.

He works his ass off too... whether it's his motivation to win awards or prove his 'haters' wrong, he puts everything he has into his music (which can't be said about almost every other popular artist).  The guy doesn't shy away from hooks, either (Good Life).   : ok:

That would more than top Linkin Park?s previous one-week high of 625k set in May and Rascal Flatts? 2006 high of 722k. In fact, it would be the biggest sales debut since West?s last album Late Registration bowed in August 2005 with 860k.

Shady/Aftermath/Interscope rapper 50 Cent, who has loudly declared he?d retire if West?s album sold more than his, better start boning up on his golf game, because Curtis will land at #2 with a still-impressive 600k, plus or minus.

I like Paramore. They're most certainly not "emo," a definition most seem to misuse with ease. If you don't like them, that's your thing, but they're a rock band. You can even argue the point that they're a pop rock band, but a rock band nonetheless. Rock isn't an elitist club only "good" bands get to be in. It's got just as much shit in it as hip hop or any other genre.

D hit it on the money, if the music is something that people really WANT to go out and support, then they will.? The Dave Matthews Band haven't been "in your face" with regards to the media, yet they've existed for over ten years and consistently toured big venues... Sure the media promotes a lot of "bubblegum pop", but that's because the record companies keep dishing them out (IMO to sell CDs to the only market they felt wouldn't be savvy enough to download music, 11-14 year old girls).

Yes it is, 76% is a huge sales loss. Platinum is nothing today. My guess is this album will sell between 2 and 3 million which is nothing special.

This is 2007... I think it's possible that this is the biggest selling CD of the year already after two weeks. 

Platinum is nothing today?  I bet you can count the number of platinum selling artsts in the past year on your fingers...  A few years back 4 to 5 million copies of Mariah Carey's album made it the biggest selling album of the year... in 2007, the title should be Kanye's.  I agree with the other poster, no 'ouch' at all.

he almost went platinum in a week.  most of the top albums this year haven't been selling close to that AT ALL.
