I don't think that proves British music is bad; it just proves the people voting, and that the dominating record companies etc. are bad. It's true that most of that list is pretty embarassing though.

One thing though.

Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division....best British song of the last 25 years? Easily. Best song ever? Maybe.

I agree with Tj. I think the people in charge are persuaded by popularity rather than quality. They got one thing right though--Keane. They're a great band and deserve to win.

Actually yes, but my point was those bands are average or below even in an optimistic light. The Street's? Keane? C'mon.

As for Robbie Williams, best song of the last 25 years, well......

Getting the Sun to choose winners from a band selection was always going to be painful.....

I guess you changed your mind then... you called them bollocks not too long ago.

I like some Muse.  They have a lot of fans in LA.   As does Snow Patrol for some weird reason  nervous

I thought this years Brits were somewhat a step in the right direction.  Let's face it's always going to be a bit naff. Because they rewards success over talent. But at least bands like Franz, Keane , Snow patrol, kasabian, PJ harvey was in there too.

Now i'm not a fan of these bands - I don't mind a couple of their songs. But i'm not really  excited by them. But at least they write their own stuff and are out there doing it live ect.

Even if you or i don't particuarly like them. It is a better direction than Girls aloud/spice girls/westlife bollocks.  At least they seem to be moving away from that horrible fake rubbish side of music.

well if the answer is yes then go ahead then, name some countries...i challenge you

streets, well yea, they are bollocks for sure, keane are pretty good, snow patrol are excellent...

as for angel, yes the song appeals to many people for many reasons and its the popularity that played a part in winning that song an award..i think its a good song, not my choice but obviously the choice for many people...its not just because of popularity that a song does well, people have to like it too

...but how would you judge the awards?, people choice, or polls, or some suited fat arses choosing whats popular or some pretentious over artistic pricks choosing them?...we all have different opinions, and if you put 20 people in a room to choose the awards and another 20 in another separate room, the choices will probably be quite different...these awards are nothing but an amalgamation of people individual choices...popularity is democracy so get used to it.

Quote
I guess you changed your mind then... you called them bollocks not too long ago.

damn!!!! you remembered that hahaha...i had only listened to one song and no videos when i made those comments...i admit i was wrong, they won me over...the album is fantastic, go out and buy it!
