Does anyone think this will be hard to get? Like we better be at the store when it opens or it will be sold out? Sorry I'm just a fan who thinks everyone in the world wants it. I need to make my plans now if you guys think it will sell out.

like a die hard fan needs to ask that question............. Grin
all respectable fans will be bashing the doors down way before store opening times
ive got a days holiday waiting to get booked as soon as official announcement is made and ill be bashing the doors down very early....but then again im just sad  peace

I don't know if any of you remember but when Metallica released Garage Inc. they went to MTV studios. They chatted a little then they went to a stage in the back and played live a couple of the new songs.

I think that would be a great promotion, despite the piece of crap that MTV has become...
Yeah, then they could squeeze it in with the 10 minutes of 'music' they play between 3am and 6am... rofl

Would be a great idea if there was any hope/credibility left for MTV, though.

Just my opinion, but a walk-on with Stern, and a couple major market free-radio shows would have a much bigger effect.  I love the idea of a (pre)release day concert...but doesn't look possible.  We'll see soon enough. ok
I'd love to hear them on Stern but they've been kind of critical of the new band in recent years.  Although, who hasn't?  When Slash was on Stern he asked a fair amount of questions about Axl and talked about his days in GNR, as he was promoting his book.  Not sure if Axl would want to field questions about Slash and co. upon CD's release.  Two of my favorite things are Stern and GNR.  If they went on the show it'd be one happy day for me.

they should play a show at a best buy in los angeles, or at least a gig in la that night

Who do you mistake them for, Velvet Revolver?

A cheap tactic if I ever heard of one.

i can see your point about it been a cheap tactic but i dont agree with you, i think it would be kick ass if they did a show to promote the release.........what better way to celebrate the release of good music than to play good music

Bands desperate for attention are more likely to do that.  Guns N' Roses doesn't even come close to needing something lame like that.

you dont have to show up if they do a free show  ok

Ha-ha.  You act as if the show has been booked and wristbands are ready to be given out.

Why you guys hating on his idea about a free show or something?

How the hell is it lame to play a free show???

God forbid a band play to celebrate the release of their album. Why not?

The idea reeks of desperation and cheapness, for a lack of a better word.

I dont understand how...........

We have a new album, here is a show to celebrate its release.

That is called giving back and would be a pretty cool thing to do.

Do it on a simulcast with VH1,MTV, MTV2 etc.

so u think going on David Letterman and doing shit like that is desperate?

Regardless of what u may think, Axl and CO are gonna have to get out and promote this thing.

THAT is how I would like for it to be done.

And more than likely, that is how it will be done.

What I DON'T want to see is the band play some rinky-dink club with no publicity or fanfare.

Capisce?

That isn't what he said though, he just said a free show which I think would be massive and a great introduction to the album and band for those who "yes" haven't heard of the new guys or know there is a new band.

You do a cool Hammerstein like thing, let it be shown on MTV,MTV2, VH1

that would be a massive way to get things out.

Playing at a store is what he said.

That is no Hammerstein.

That's Avril Lavigne status.

I took more of the "GIG" in LA that night.

Of course playing at Best Buy would be really strange and low but he is on the right track though. A gig somewhere would be awesome.

Isn't there a Best Buy somewhere in or near Times Square? That would be huge, doing a simulcast on MTV, VH1, MTV2, Fuse, Vh1 Classic, etc. Do some interviews, get fans reactions, show them preparing for the show, etc. Let Kurt Loder host it. Awesomeness...

If its anything like most cds we get at best buy, especially around the holidays, there will be PLENTY!!!! Don't worry, you'll get to hear the cd!

Anyone that actually watched the VMA's - remember the 'trick' performances off site, that were actually in studio?  How cool would it be to broadcast LIVE from Tienanmin (spelling?) square 'set' - pipe it into China - set off an international incident...the Chinese people would storm the square for a taste of 'democracy'...then have the 'reveal' that they are actually IN Times Square (but leave that off the Chinese Broadcast).  Riots would ensue when underground GnR fans storm Tienanmin and are bashed by police, setting off worldwide calls for democratic reforms.  We get CD - China gets pushed over the edge into 'Chinese Democracy'.

Why are there black helicopters outside my window??? nervous

I think a live free show would be fantastic!! And why not show up at a Best Buy and screen the fans buying the new cd? They did it when Use Your Illusion came out. I'll be at the G&R show weather it's free or I'll have to buy a ticket. We could all share a row at the concert. I'll even lite up some 'mother nature' to share with all Gunners and Roses!! After all that's what a good rock & roll gathering show is all about..............give me 10,000 watts of G&R......and we'll have an excellent time....... beer

hahahaha. And a free show would be just fine. I know of bands that have done it who ARE NOT avril lavigne status. It's called giving back to the fans. Buy a copy, watch the free show, have the greatest day of your life lol.

If you think doing an "in store" promotion is somehow beneath Guns n Roses, you have your head in the sand or up you ass.  If they (Axl) doesn't care how many units are sold thats fine, but if they want to move product they need to cooperate and do some pr, handshaking and baby-kissing.
This is 2008, not 1988.  Most people, even music fans, outside of the GnR forums aren't going to be lining up to buy new music just because it has "Guns n Roses" on the cover.

Some of you might be living in the past a little.  MTV and VH1 don't play music anymore, let alone live shows. Maybe if it was still 1991....

You should have seen the cover they wanted to do. It wasn't a glove, believe me.
