I dont know If you already knew but it?s true.Today I was listening to it and as my guitar is tuned half step down I wasnt playing.I took my guitar and played a D chord, and it was the same as FTP D chord.I though I was tuned normal, but then I put SMF on and tried to play it and I realized I  was half step down indeed.
What do you think about this. Why would they tune half step down on only one song? And why Slash never said anything about it?

Maybe it's for scott's range?

Yeah that?s probably true, thakns.Gn?R shurely did it  so that Axl can sing right. On FTP Scott sings some "high" (for his range) notes, so probably they tuned one half step lower so that Scott could sing those notes. You got me to the solution, miz, thanx!

Yeah, but I still don't understand why GN'R do it.  Axl has a crazy range.  I really can't see half a tone helping Axl hit the hight notes...

Yep, the song is on D, I was playing it these days.

I think gnr tuned the their instruments one half step down because it sounds heavier.

I tune my guitars one half step down so I can play gnr songs, also it is a lot easier to bend strings, and a lot harder to break strings.

I don't have the velvet revolver album... Is fall to pieces the only tuned down song ?

Which ones?  Slither is the only what that seems to be drop D.  Although I haven't played STB or Big Machine, everything else seems to be standard?

i think illegal i is drop d aswell. but i dont think it has to be played that way if memory serves me correctly. i think its just easier in drop d.  actually wait the chorus actually does need the lower d.

stb is in standard i think

Oh yeah, Illegal i is gay, there's one note, that little 4 or 5 notes descending riff that goes down to D.  It's like the only part of the song which needs the low tuning.  I say just play it an octave higher cos I can't be doing with detuning all the time.

What is the advantage of detuning the highest string also? I don't get it...
