What's up with that anyway? I've noticed a lot native speakers do it, is it intentional or are the people doing it just plain retarded?

It's just as bad as the maddeningly frequent usage of "your" for you are (it's you're, people), and "alot".  A lot is TWO WORDS, people.

Alright also gets on my nerves, even though I sometimes commit this fallacy myself. ALL RIGHT. I hate the usage of "ur" instead of your. I think it's more forgivable in common speech, but when typing it just seems really stupid for these mistakes to pop up.

same here.

But what really bugs me is how some posts have these weird '[&54548p] %% &[6]' things inserted in them - where the heck do they come from?

I always wondered that too random. Sometimes when I clip and paste I get them.

Not capitalizing things bothers me. I hate seeing that. But my spelling is horrible, I know. On this board it is hardly the worst so I don't use spell check. I know I can get my point across. I can carry on an intelligent conversation, but I ain't gonna win no spelling "B" that is for sure. hihi

I have horrible handwriting too, but I can type like a mo-fo, always have been able to. The thing I always say is that "My spelling and handwriting suck, but I understand numbers." Meaning, I might be bad in those things, but being good with money is more important. hihi

I think the internet is laid back too, so people don't care about this stuff as much. I get emails from friends of mine with much more education then me and there spelling/puncuation is horrible. They'd never write a letter to there boss like that, but online people just don't care as much. That's what I guess anyway.

That I can sort of understand, because they look fairly similar to each other, but the "should of"-thing boggles me. It just looks so stupid that unless it's meant as a joke, I don't get it..

That's what makes it so funny, it's usually only native speakers who are able to write it like that..

When D posts, I have to re-read it, same with SSS. Neither of them make much sense to me most of the time.

I hate people typing "ur" too. Is it "you're" or is it "your". See, you're causing people to stop and think, does he mean something I own or something I am? Which takes time, so the fast txt spk aspect is therefore, bullshit. Yes, it takes yourself more time to type out those strenious 3 extra letters, and my heart bleeds for your poor mind to activate the powers to do so, but really, it just takes longer for people to understand.

"Should have" is shortened to "should've".

What does "should of" mean anyway?

I should have done so.....or......I should of done so.

Could someone use "should of" in a sentence that makes sense.....maybe it's me.

they are probably html entities you're thinking of...they represent characters within the html language..these characters can produce certain problems when coding, so therefore they use these entities instead...

No, it does not make sense.

The function of the ' in should've is to represent the missing letters, which are obviously ha. Have.

Should of is nothing in the "proper" written sense.
