I love contraband but if I was to list my chief complaint it's that I would have liked it if Slash solo'd alot more on some of the songs. None of the songs have more than 1 solo and none are really that long. Does anyone miss the ridiculous amount of soloing like me or does everyone think it was overdone in the past and this was a nice change of pace?

I'll take the short stealth missiles of Contraband over the self indulgent hooey of the past anyday.

I hope they make a very different record in the second one, I loved Contraband but I wouldnt mind other influences and maybe a bit less "grungy" sound.
And I do think Slash needs to put more input.

I agree, although I don't think they should make a very different album, but a different album.

My initial thoughts were that there wasn't enough Classic Slash on the album. The more I listen the more some of the solos have been jumping out at me. I think the solos in "DLT" , "YAGNR", and "STB's" are fucking 10's!! That's just the first three that popped in my mind.

I miss it.  Change of pace is fine for some songs, but I also hope for a less 'grungy' sounding record the next time around.

I was playing Get in the Ring for a friend the other day, and you know how Slash's guitar starts off all sweet and bluesy. So my friend thought it was gonna be a slow love-song type.  And then Axl starts singing... and he's like 'oh, it's not a love song.'  rofl   Such a great contrast.  That what's I like.
