I just voted on the VR website for the next single (I voted for do it for the kids) and I noticed after seeing the results that the harder songs were garnering alot more votes than the 2 remaining ballads. While YGNR may be my favorite track off of contraband I would much rather have them come out with a stronger rock track for the next single like DIFTK or STB. Superhuman would be pretty cool too.

Call me crazy but to me the next Contraband single should be "Surrender". The song has been recorded and plans are to release it as a single. Why not add the add the song to future "Contraband" printings? I know I mentioned this before, but Oasis did something similar in 95 to even get more sales out of " Definitely Maybe". When the album lost momentum in sales, they recorded a song " Whatever" and added it to the CD, making it a double CD ( the second CD was the song Whatever) but kept the same price. That brilliant move increased the album sales when the numbers had dropped down.
This leads me to the following question, has anyone downloaded the song from any of their recent shows? I'd love to hear it.

Yeah, I fuckin' hope that they don't do that, because while fans hate it, a lot of collectors will still buy it...
...Dirty underhand tactics...
The new single doesn't actually bother me too much, but I wouldn't mind seeing doing it for the kids, now you mention it....

Yeah, Usher just did the same thing last week... They repackaged his CD with 4 new songs, one which is on the radio as a new single with Alicia Keys.
It worked like a motherfucker, the album shot straight up to #2 on the charts with a 700% sales increase since they still count it as the same album. It might even be #1 this week.
I would hate for Velvet Revolver to do that... Surrender is a B-Side on Fall To Pieces, and it should stay that way. The more I think about it, "Do It For The Kids" is probably the best song to release as a single right now. Either that or "Superhuman".... but DIFTK is probably catchier (even though I prefer Superhuman).
I've got a question... Now that you've learnt your way around Contraband, if you had to pick the band's FIRST single, would it still have been Slither?

they need to release a rocker. they dont want to get stereotyped in the public as solely a power-balad band.
sucker train blues is pretty good

Actually it was recorded as a B-Side and appears on the FTP single which I recently bought. Surrender sounds ok, nothing to get too excited about.

The only downside to releasing DIFTK as a single (which by the way is one of my fav tracks on CB) is that they'll probably beep out the "Went too fast I'm out of luck and I don't even give a fuck" part.

you got no right has to be a single, that song will cross over and pull in the masses.
rockers should be do it for the kids or headspace those songs would just be so powerful over the radio
STB's is a great rockin live song but i dont think it works as a radio friendly single
SUperhuman is my fav but the drug references would hurt it on radio
so DIFTK's or Headspace would be my choices but definitely YGNR.

Pity that VR has only two songs for the upcoming single... Sucker Train Blues would have been an excellent choice
