Hey you all I dunno if this is the right place, but I did a Madagascar cover playing the guitars while my friend Daniel Varandas played the keyboards, the bass and drums... We need a singer right now, if anyone wants to record the vocal, send me a pm. I played with Aria Pro II Les Paul + Marshall Jackhammer + Dunlop Cry-baby + Marshall 10W mini-amp. I mixed with Cool Edit Pro and added just a few delay and reverb fx. The drum sample was extracted from the Pittsburgh soundboard bootleg. Thanks to rnx and everybody at TheNewGuns.com for upload the file, hope you'll enjoy it. http://downloads.thenewguns.com/voodoo/voodoochild-madagascarcover-finalmix-hostedatthenewgunsdotcom.mp3

I like this!! Did you have to improvise much? I mean we've only got live versions to go from, so it might be a bit difficult to get it right note for note? I think your solo was a bit different but spot on apart from that. Any Axl soundalikes out there?

Actually not, there are really good soundboard bootlegs out there. Some almost "hidden" work, like Finck's guitar on Bucket's solo, is clear in some sources, like the Idaho and Tacoma sb boots. My solo was different cause I just jammed. I've made some lines to remember Bucket's solo from Rio, but I made my own version. I thought it would be a lot more fun doing in that way. Yeah, I'm still searching for someone to put the vocal layers. Anyways, thanks Cowboy Buddha and GNR_Green and all of you.

Hey Voodoochild, I don't want to sound like an ass or anything but there is allot that can be improved on the guitars. Sometimes I get the impression that the sound is a bit off key. And I miss some feeling to it. I don't know how long you've been playing guitar or anything so maybe I'm a bit harse / but I'm as honoust as possible. I'm sure with some more practise you'll get there. I'm just trying to get you further! Keep on the good work!? the songs on your website are pretty cool btw!?nicely done

Repsect guys, that's very well done. But why so close to the original? What's the use in a cover when it's that close to the original? Where are YOU in your rendition of this song? Thank you guys! I'm glad you liked! I would love to do something like this, but if some guys said the solo would be better if I played closer to the original, could you imagine if people would be able to enjoy some kind of rendition? My intention was to put all the details difficult to hear in the mix, like the Robin's tidbits while Bucket plays the solo, way more audible. Kind of how the studio version might be like.

But tell us about extracting the drum sample. I'd like to know about the software, too.
No magic software. Just took the small part before Buckethead starts the solo. It's like 1 or 2 seconds with only that drum sample (it seems a little different from the begining). I just got this second sample and made a big loop with this for all the solo section. Pretty much just copy and paste.

so thats the actual solo that is goin on behind the quotes? now i see why axl put the quotes i hope he changed that solo cause i think that solo is kinda bland and nothing memorable about it *not your playing* your playing is great but im a little disappointed in the solo that was written. 10 years i expect at least solo's on par with slash i write better solo's than that

I said I only took the drums sample, just read above. I wanted to just jam instead of covering Bucket's solo. I'm sorry if you didn't like it - hopefully others did. But I heard your songs and its not on par with slash too *not your playing*.

if it had been robin or buckets though and they had been workin on that for 4 or 5 years but considering u put it on there it is really good
no disrespect intended i thought that was what bucket or robin slaved over for all this time

Hey, check this guy singin' ISE, OMG, my Maddie version and Crash Diet: http://www.videolog.tv/videolog/vdl_index.php?user=axlrosesActually is very funny, he don't really know the words but he sings anyways. I don't know him, but he is the first person to record the vocals for the song.. I wish more people would do that. ps: I'm learning the next song, already on 80% of it. Hope you'll enjoy this new one too.

Hey everyone, I caught this track through thenewguns.com. I spliced in the middle part w/ the samples and added Robin's backround vocals to it. It ain't perfect, but I think it works well. You can go get it from the link below. http://rapidshare.de/files/746484/Madagascar__New_Test_.mp3.html

I'm battling a slight case of strep throat right now, but I plan on taking a stab at the vocals in the next few days. When I get over this shitty throat problem, I'll probably lay some vox down in Sonar and send it your way Voodoo.

The point is that Buckethead played in every live version of that song a different solo, so we know nothing about what they`ve been working on in the past years. Same goes for the second part of the chinese democracy solo.
