i downloaded the VMA performace and when axl is interviewed by Loader, he says "oh and thanks for that rio review".
so was it a bad or good review? axl seemed kinda sarcastic about it.

Pretty good review-Kurt Loder said at the VMA's "this is a great band". Lengthy review, haven't read it in a while, but was well done, honest.

Kurt loder is probably the most respected journalist at MTV, I don't know why but I love that guy. He is a good man and you can see that rock n' roll is his passion. He really loves GN'R.

Kurt Loder wrote a short review of Axl and nuGN'R's performance at RIR which really praised the band, so I assume Axl is referring to that.

There really is a new Guns N? Roses album in the pipeline. (Really.) It?s called "Chinese Democracy," and it should be out in the spring, summer, something like that.

Kurt Loder is so passionate about real rock music, and it's a shame that MTV has kinda put him in the shadows due to the hip-hop crap. I still think, eventually, Axl will do a long, in-depth, sitdown interview with Kurt when the album comes out...

I like him myself, and he is a fan and all..I know he will get an interview but he will ask all these soft questions and be extra nice.. I think at the vmas a better interview backstage could have been conducted. if you're getting someone like axl rose you need to follow up and not let him leave until you get the dirt and explanations..

Kurt loder knew about cd in 99 that's why he was like is cd going to come out, it's been a long time..
It's tough when the person doing the interview is a fan or in awe...

It was a post show interview, it wasn't an interrogation.  Loader knows what he's doing, that's why a guy who is over 40 still has a job on MTV.  He probably spoke to Axl before the show and cleared his questions with him.  If he had pushed for answers that Axl didn't want to give, he wouldn't get access to Axl again.

This is how music and enetertainment journalists operate, they aren't political journalists who are paid to ask hard questions and get to the truth.   They exist to make the celebrity look good and provide entertaining tv.
