im havin technical problems

i have a digitech pedal board *cost about 200 bucks in musician friends* and its a piece of shit.

tone is great etc but it has a noise gate

to make the fuckin thing not buzz u have to turn the threshold to about 38 *it goes to 40

when u do this the riffing sounds great but on the solo's u cant get any sustain and it robs the tone.

if i turn it any lower than 38 on the noise gate and it feebacks uncontrollably and buzzes to no end.

i shouldve sent it back and got a refund but i didnt so im stuck with it.

anyone ever had problems like this?

any ideas how i could correct it?

You probably have the gain set to high.  To much gain on digital effects can often lead to horrendous noise.  You need to play with that a bit.  You may find that lessening the gain not to far will lower the noise quite some amount.  Play with the EQ to keep the sound crisp.  My Korg AX1000G was similar on some preamp modes.  It was the nature of the beast.  $200 multieffects are generally lower quality overall than individual ones... for instance, in the UK, the Korg was a full board with about 20 different effects.  It cost ?170 ... the BOSS DD-3 is ?80 and that's just one delay pedal.

hmmmmm noise can come from

- like stormy said too much gain

- crappy pickups, or standing too close to the amp.

- the amp is near a tv or a computer or some other electronic device that is fukin things up
