ME and my friend were sitting around and we were thinking that there are no good rock bands from Canada...

We came up with the obvious shitty ones... Bryan Adams, Foriegner,  I swear that there has to be ONE good band from Canada... can anyone think of one?Huh?

There are lots.

Tea party
Big Wreck
Mathew Good Band
The Waking Eyes are awesome from what I've heard
Tragically Hip, I guess this would be the national pride of Canada, not a huge fan myself though
3 Days Grace isn't bad

I Mother Earth
Moist
Finger Eleven
The Headstones
Treble Charger (pre American Psycho)
Our Lady Peace
Limblifter
Age Of Electric
Econoline Crush
The Guess Who
54-40
Sloan
Sam Roberts
Big Wreck

and they've already been mentioned but:
The Tragically Hip
Matthew Good (Band)
Rush
The Tea Party

There's a handful of others, but I guess you wouldn't be familiar with them unless you're FROM Canada.? Which is a shame, because I would place most of these bands above a ton of known American bands.

If you want a taste of Canadian rock, listen to The Hip, Matt Good, Sloan, or I Mother Earth (preferably with Edwin singing).

Edit - BTW, I'm not sure if he can be considered "rock", but anyone with any sense should immediately download "Striptease" by Hawksley Workman.  He writes all the lyrics and does all the instrumentation on his albums, and I believe he produces them as well.  If he keeps it up, 10 years down the line I'll gladly start a thread to argue with D about who's more talented, Hawksley or Prince.

Rush is a great Canadian band.

Loverboy

I think Nickelback is Canadian.

If the criteria is "good," Rush and Nickelback should be eliminated from this list.  They're not even bad.  They're worse than bad.

Huh?? Nickelback has always sounded like Puddle of Mudd, and both of 'em have always sounded like wannabe-Nirvana's.? And, as mentioned above, Nirvana sucks.? Hence, Nickelback sucks.  You do the math.?

He meant Chad Kroeger, the very untalented lead singer of Nickelback.

Yeah, Nickelback may have created their own sound, it's a single sound and they use it on every song. There's a website out there, which I don't have the link for at the moment that plays two Nickelback songs together, one in the left speaker, one in the right...They sound exactly the same.

Nickelback sucks.

Of all the bands mentioned the only one that's any good is Rush.  However, Canada has produced one of the greatest frontmen of our time.  The iatola of rock n' rolla, Chris Jericho!  Fozzy are huge rock stars.
