I was tempted to buy a newspaper today just to enjoy the media's demolition job on Sven's reputation - the same media that claimed he was a tactical genius

I wouldn't wish Sven on any other team - no set of fans deserve him, my sympathy goes to the next club he ruins - rumour has it that will be Real Madrid, my condolences to that fine club

i was in gelsenkirchen on saturday, where the england game took place. there were 100.000 (!!!) english people in the city. that was fucking insane. the english are fucking mad. i love it how they live football. you can't compare it to germany or anywhere else. that was the best football experience i ever had. if you have never experienced football with thousands of english, the you have never experienced football at all..

Kind of, England didn't have an inspirational coach or captain in the last 5 years and that hurts a team
which needs passion to make up for lack of technical skill. I'd be tempted to give it to Owen Hargreaves after the

It's important to have leaders, yeah, but being the captain doesn't make you a leader. You also don't need to be captain to show leadership qualities.

Of course not, but you may not want to undermine the captain, forcing you to surpress those qualities. It's hard to judge watching it thousands of miles away on a
TV screen but my impression is that the England players genuinely liked and respected Beckham and for better or worse, looked to him as the leader. Gerrard, for example, didn't look very inspirational and he sems to be one of the favourites.
