You probably haven't heard the Slough Feg, then. It's #1 on that list for a reason.  ok I have heard few concept albums that are as good. Operation Mindcrime and 2112 are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head that equal or surpass it.

As for great albums that just missed the list, there's Bathory's Nordland, Edge of Sanity's Crimson II, and Grave Digger's Rheingold. There are tons of albums that came close, and many more that are simply good. There's nothing wrong with this decade of music.

The new Megadeth just didn't hit me at all. I liked some riffs and thats about it. I'm saying this as a huge Megadeth fan. My second fav band.

Mmm I'll check out that list Walk.

What kind of music though?

Tool - Lateralus
Janes's Addiction - Strays
The Scissor Sisters was new and inspired
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Audioslave - Audioslave
the thing is, its tough to judge how good the music is unless you give it some time, and after relative comparisons to other albums of the decade or specified time period.

What kind of music though?

Slough Feg- Indescribable. It's Celtish, Progressive, old school American power metal with doomy undertones, which can mean just about anything. Wink It's really, really good.

Graveland- Viking/folk metal, with black metallish vocals.

The Red Chord- Metalcore.

Agalloch- Calm folk "metal". This is NOT a black metal band, so don't have any preconceived notions about them.

Kayo Dot- Indescribable, even moreso than Slough Feg. There's nothing like it, and you will either love it or hate it. It's extremely experimental.

Devourment- Brutal death metal.

Iron Maiden- Kick ass heavy metal.

Torture Squad- Thrash metal with some death metal influences, like vocals.

Deeds Of Flesh- Technical death metal, much more complex than Devourment Wink.

Slayer- Thrash/groove.

As for yet another band to not make my list, check out Destroyer 666's album Cold Steel for an Iron Age. Then there's Arghoslent, Brocas Helm, Battlecry, and Sodom. Man, there's been some great underground metal in this decade...

4- Agalloch- The Mantle

Argh, how could I forget one of my all-time life-changing supreme favorite albums! Cheesy The Mantle is truly sublime.

5- Kayo Dot- Choirs Of The Eye

I've had the album as mp3's for over two years, and I've managed to listen to it maybe twice. Every now and then someone is praising it, so perhaps I'll give it a third listen some time Smiley

I'm a Megadeth fan, though i suppose I was just being cynical mentioning "System has Failed".

There are alot of good albums mentioned here, I just expected sombody say that this wasn't a good decade for music.

Some of you may not beleive this but I've heard most of the albums mentioned here, and although some are very good, most of the bands that made them have done better stuff a decade ago.

I think it unfornate when the most mentioned album here is the RHCP 3rd best album.

I am a Tool fan but 10000 Days is weak, I feel like going insance everytime I ever listend to it.

By my music I meant any kind of Rock album, be it thrash, emo, punk ect.

I'm just glad there are no Limp Bizkit albums mentioned here.

Have you listened to The Mantle? Have you listened to any of the albums you hadn't heard before?

There has been no classic albums, or great bands in this decade. Great bands like Metallica, Oasis, Pearl Jam, NIN, and RHCP are still around, but their classic albums are from the 80's and 90's. This decade has been an embarrassment for rock n roll music. As somebody who grew up in the 90's and is 28 now, I'm pissed off that nobody from my age bracket grew up and started a real legendary rock band, just a bunch of "Indie Faggots" as Liam Gallgher would say. It's up to Axl to kick all our asses with Chinese Democracy, which will be the first classic album to come out this decade.
