i was recruited at one time to help a junkie come off of heroin. i locked myself and her up in a secluded location where she had no access to the crap for 10 days. it wasn't pretty, to say the least. definitely an interesting life experience. made me glad that i never tried the stuff. paul's guitar work in JUNK, especially the lead section, qualify that song as being a soundtrack to the withdrawals and torment i witnessed in that 10 days. after the 10 days were up i went back to my own life and she went back out to the junk... oh well... i tried. last i heard of her was a couple of years later. i heard she contracted AIDS, probably from a dirty needle or from one of the people she was having sex with to obtain the drug or money for the drug... i heard she killed herself in new york. she was around 30 years old...sad. "... nothing ever lasts for the junkie..."

That's a really fucked up story, but thanks for sharing it.

Looks to me that some great songs must come out from really bad life experiences. Sad

In my opinion, a "using" junkie is like a cockroach of humanity... On the other hand, a "clean" junkie is a miracle.

In my opinion, someone who faces life on life's terms IS better ( or wiser ) than someone who destroys themselves (and hurts everyone who loves them) by trying to escape... junkies have no purpose... (unless they are "clean")

I've never really seen the appeal of this band. I wish Paul Huge would comment on why he left GNR, and if him and Pittman really did pen most of the songs on Chinese Democracy along with Axl

i dreamt of a snake last night... and the snake was Death...Death to all those who tried to touch It... It was on the ground surrounded by a circle of a crowd... i stepped forward and picked up the snake... Death sank Its fangs into my fore-arm... my vision blurred and my body became weak... i woke and prayed...

I think he wasn't big on the whole touring and playing in front of huge crowds.   I thought that was pretty much always the case and that Paul was there as a friend to Axl helping him get the band back out there.
