Ya, that's gotta be it.  No doubt.  For sure.  Case closed.

I'm virtually positive it had nothing to do with Rick being busy with Metallica and U2.   Roll Eyes

Yeah I could do withouth the sarcasm Falcon, I have never EVER been negative towards VR....this is just what I'm scared off, that the songs are of the same quality as we heard on Contraband (Which I liked but I expected more? ok )

Sarcasm nonwithstanding..

I understand your concerns if you feel that way about Contaband.  It's your opinion and you're absolutely entitled to it.

As for Rubin, his alleged comments of song quality have never been confirmed so any concerns based on that alone are more than likely going to get one of these  Roll Eyes from me.

Well I'm not only basing it on that, I'm also basing it on scott's statements that the inspiration basically flatlined for awhile....

When your dealing with a band as big and with as much reputation as velvet revolver you MAKE time, it was already stated that they would be working with ruben before metallica, im "virtually" postive it has nothing to do with being busy with metallica or u2. it has to be another reason

imagine you're a producer.

you have the choice to work with U2 or VR ?

U2 is a rock n'roll legend, one of the last.
no doubt any serious music lover will choose them instead of VR.

am i the only person in the world who cannot stand U2?

No Grin

To my taste Bono's voice got no balls, no power. Some of the music is ok but it could need some rawness, some power..

Back to the topic on hand, Rick Rubin bailed out on the new VR album already??? When did this happen??? Rick Rubin is the fucking man and it's a damn shame that VR won't have him producing the next album, if that's what is currently happening.?

Just look at what Rick Rubin did during the last 10 years of Johnny Cash's life and tell me the guy isn't a fucking genius... among the other 50 great albums he's produced.

Sorry for the double post but I agree with this guy.  Rick has always been able to do more than one thing at a time.  He's been doing this for a long, long fucking time and he knows what he's doing.  He wouldn't have committed to VR in the first place if he thought Metallica and U2 would be getting in the way of it. He's an extremely proffesional producer. There has to be something else happening.  It could be anything... the songs not up to par, a huge fight and falling out between him and Weiland, it could really be all sorts of things.  I doubt the songs aren't up to par but we don't really know that for sure either way.

I think Axl should get Rick Rubin to produce the next GN'R album if it's not done yet.  Or hell, if CD isn't coming out anytime soon he should get Rick to finish that album up as well.  It wouldn't happen in a million years but it's a good thought.

Maybe rick tried  to take all of dave's (and maybe Slash's) effects pedals away.  He did that to billy duffy in The Cult.

No, Matt thought they would be working with Rubin before Metallica because he assumed VR would be finished writing before Metallica was. I was under the impression that Rubin committed to U2 and Metallica before VR came along and that he would be working with those bands first unless they weren't ready to head into the studio.

I'm hoping if this album sounds like anything from their passed bands; it's a GnR sound from AFD rather than anything STP.
