Anthrax's new album
The Greater Of Two Evils
is a collection of the bands early material, re-recorded live in the studio with band's current line-up.
You can listen to it here:
http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/anthrax/artist.jhtml?_requestid=361088
I'm a John Bush era Anthrax fan, so I never really heard any of the stuff before Sound Of White Noise, so all these songs are pretty much new to me. I've had a few listens to some of the songs and it sounds like Kill 'Em All era Metallica but with better production, and I'm very impressed!
This is one album I'm definitely buying, whenever it gets released in Australia!

Yeah, I've been right into them lately, it's really surprising they don't have a bigger following than they do, because even performing live they kick ass!
I put on the Music Of mass Destruction DVD today and damn they are fuckin tight!
Charlie Benante is amazing on the kit, you'd think his feet would fall off with all those double-bass kicks!
I haven't been able to track down the new album here in Australia yet which is pretty disappointing, but I haven't given up!

As I've stated before, I'm a John Bush era Anthrax fan, but I decided to go along and see the reunion show that was on in Sydney last night, and I must say, I was quite impressed!
I still prefer Bush's vocals, but Joey Belladonna is one hell of a front man and puts on a great show. Dan Spitz was great too, although some of his leads were a bit hard to hear in the mix.
I'm not sure of the exact setlist order, but after a short video showing the history of Anthrax, they opened with Among The Living and also played Got The Time, N.F.L, Deathrider, Metal Thrashing Mad, Caught In A Mosh, Indians (complete with Joey wearing Indian headgear), I Am The Law, Be All End All, Madhouse, Medusa, In My Word, Antisocial, I'm The Man and A.I.R.
They also played the intro to Pantera's A New Level with Scott Ian playing the Dimebag guitar which got really loud cheers from the crowd!
All in all, it was great concert, there were allot of 80's metalheads there and allot of mullets out too! hehe
Aussie band Mortal Sin who were supporting them were pretty good too, although I didn't know any of their songs, so it all kinda sounded very samey, they were tight though!
The one thing that sucked about the night was the line to the bar, I had to wait in line almost an hour in line to get a beer, the service was shit!!!

What's everybody's opinion on the Anthrax reunion. I was one of the lucky ones to attend the show in Jersey where they shot the new DVD. It was an amazing show...maybe the craziest crowd I've ever been a part of. I personally love the reunion. John Bush may be a better singer than Belladona, and Rob Coggiano may be a better guitarist than Dan Spitz, but this is the lineup that put out the best material and puts on the best live shows. I hope this reunion lasts as long as possible.

"Anthrax", just the band's name doesn't give me the want to listen to them. Sorry but it just really doesn't attract me at all.
Heavy-metal band's names/albums names/songs names are always very funny: death, cimetary, catacombs, blood, vampire, satan...
come on, do they

If you're limiting yourself from listening to a band just because of their name, then you're doing yourself a disservice and ignoring allot of good music out there, including Anthrax's.
To say Anthrax sing about "death, cimetary, catacombs, blood, vampire, satan" without even hearing their music is just silly. And if you knew anything about these guys, you'd also know they have a huge sense of humour and their music is up there with the thrash classics - Metallica (80's), Megadeth, Slayer.

yep, maybe. But I do say I have lots of difficulties with that genre of music. I don't understand their approach. And don't worry, I really
tried
to give it a chance (not to anthrax specifically, but more generally to that kind of music), so I went to the "trash/death-metal" section in virgin megastor, I put the headphones...and i put it off 15 seconds later.
Sorry...

You're just not hearing the right bands or you're not in the right setting to appreciate the music. Thrash metal is notoriously associated with alcohol, partying, and headbanging. The best way to experience it is to see it live. It can take time to get used to. I would recommend Sepultura, Sodom, and Kreator as good thrash bands.
Death metal is an acquired taste. In fact, I've heard that some of the greatest death metal albums ever barely went gold, if even that far! It's a very "kvlt" type of music that isn't for everyone. Black metal is a little more accessible than death metal, usually.
Metal bands choose cool names because they're cool. Death metal bands choose names about death, what else? They're not any cheesier than many glam band names (Sleez Beez, I'm looking right at you).

You could say the same about Guns N' Roses music, so I'm surprised that someone on this board would have such a narrow-minded view of
thrash
(not trash) metal bands.
At the end of the day, it's all rock n' roll to me anyway!

And going back on topic, the Anthrax reunion show I saw in Sydney earlier this year was great, and easily one of the best metal gigs I've ever seen.
I'm still hoping John Bush and Rob Caggiano rejoin the band, but if you get a chance to see these guys on their current reunion tour, I'd highly recommend to go along, you won't be disappointed

I think it would be cool if Bush got back with Armored Saint. How awesome a show would it be if they were to open for the reunited Anthrax? And to nesquick...Anthrax are some of the funniest, fun-loving, normal guys in rock or metal. Most of there songs aren't about death, and I don't know if any of them are about Satan. Some of their favorite topics are metal, social issues, comic books and other literature, personal stuff, and even (gasp) having fun. Just listen to I'm The Man and tell me these guys don't have tons of fun. You need to be educated in the right kind of metal. Not Slipnot...real metal like Anthrax, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden.

Why listen to death metal?
Half the time thats slipknot shit.
Even sum 41 have a better metal sound than slipnkot even if they have punk with them.
Try Skid Row and metallica (kill em all, ride the lightning, master of puppets (a must have) and justice for all, Black album (because you sound a commercialised guy
)

John Bush is a better singer than Belladona by faaaaaaaar. I feel really sad that he?s out, but I know the classic lineup can clearly do some damage...hopefuly they?ll release an album.

Your innocence amuses me Mrlee, most Death Metal bands out there would rip out your heart and eat it, if they heard you were associating them with Slipknot.
Slipknot is Nu - Metal, perhaps sometimes even straying into Metal with recent efforts, they are a far cry from Death Metal my friend!
