i've never had less of a gut feeling about a game than i do this one. i have no guess as to what will happen.

there's too many variables at play that could quickly change the course of the game....

1. will the colts be able to sustain drives against the great bears D?
2. will grossman turn the ball over 3 times?
3. will peyton choke?
4. where the hell is marvin harrison?
5. will heston make a game changing return?
6. will the bears D score a TD?

for me, this is just a tough game to predict. but gun to my head, i'd say Colts win 23-9.

Grossman has been wildly inconsistent this season.  His single-game passer rating has been, week by week, 98.6, 148.0, 64.9, 100.5, 101.2, 10.2, 137.4, 36.8, 105.7, 81.4, 23.7, 1.3, 114.4, 104.3, 80.4, 0.0. Total: 73.9, 24th in the NFL.

73.9 is shit.  I don't know of many QB's who have had a passer rating that low and been a starter in the Super Bowl.  If Grossman has a 100+ rating week, the Bears will win. If he's his mediocre self (which he has been all season, just not in a single week), it'll be close. If he shits the bed, as we all see he is capable of, give it to the Colts.  Considering he's been good in the playoffs, it's about time for one of those weeks where he shits the bed.

The Bears' D will keep it close, but Indy's D is no slouch either.  As long as they can stop the run when Grossman's arm falls off, they'll have an advantage.  Their high-powered offense will be able to win it over the Bears' low-powered offense against their slightly-above-average defense.

Colts 24-17. Grossman will be average, not enough to make a difference, with the MVP going to some unknown. Names like Larry Brown and Dexter Jackson have been no-name defensive players to come out of nowhere to take the MVP, and I think this year will be the same. Either Cato June or Antoine Bethea is my call.

SO MANY VARIABLES.

will manning step up to the plate? will indy's D continue to play hot? will Chicago's D perform? which Grossman will show?

i dunno should be interesting to see anyway peace

i pick indy by 4...indy needs to get the first score though to put grossman in the catchup game early

The following numbers are based on an average from the prior 40 Superbowls:

The winner of the Superbowl averaged 250 points against for the season
The loser of the Superbowl averaged 280 points against for the season

Only 2 teams averaging at least 320 points against for the season have ever made it to the Superbowl
The Colts this season allowed 360 points against this season...

Defense wins championships

So my prediction... Da Bears

I dont think people realize that Grossman has been as good if not better than manning in the playoffs.

I hope the Colts win but the team with the best D usually does.

Depends really on turnovers and if the Colts D can stop the Bears Running game.

If the Colts stop Jones and Benson they will win.

^very true D .... manning has been very spotty this playoffs, but grossman's inconsistancy all season is a big concern for many....

Indy d has been stepping up as is their special teams and running game....those areas need to remain hot and manning needs to get back to himself if colts are gonna win on sunday.

I know jack shit about football....but....

Now I have a reason to stay up till 4 am monday morning. I've just placed a 50? bet for the Bears to win (I know the Colts are favorites) but what the hell? It's more fun to pull for the underdog.

Go BEARS!!

I do have a feeling that Manning is gonna go Steve Young on the Bears and complete around 80 percent of his passes.

Ignatius, I think u made a bad bet and I will tell u why.

In the regular Season the Bears won 11 of their games against NON Playoff teams.

They only went 1-2 against the AFC and they lost to New England 17-13 and the other two games were against horrible AFC Teams.

The bears are without their best Defensive Linemen in Tommie Harris, without their best secondary player in Mike Brown and The Bears play a Cover Two and Peyton is SUPER Familiar with that defense, so Pre Snap read he is gonna know exactly what the Bears are doing and where they are.

Translation:

Manning should be able to pick apart the Bears Defense who are great but have padded their stats against the horrible teams in the NFC.
