Instead of playing in EADGBE, you tune your strings to D#G#C#F#A#D#

Yeah, I know, but I've never heard someone saying they're tuning to D sharp, I've always referred to it as E flat. Just thought it was odd. hihi

My band used to play in standard and I got hand cramps all of the time.
Went away after we started tuning a half step down.

I really wish Dave Mustaine would tune to D - it would improve his vocals alot live, but he is very stubborn about downtuning. I think axl could do with the band tuning another half a step down sometimes too.

My tuner doesnt tune to anything but the standard.  I dont have C and F.   Do I have to wait till I get better by ear or is there an alternative way of getting this tuing with a regular standard tuner?

I know tuning down is fun and it gives a nice tone and bend feel, but if your learning, learn in Standard, otherwise your fingers will be weak and your ear will be off. ok

Lies!
Tuning a half-step down doesn't decrease the string tension all that much, besides which the gauge of your strings will make much more difference to the amount of force you're using to fret (and it's still not much of a difference at that).

And your ear would only be "off"if you really, really believe that the Eb you're tuning to is actually E.

I have my guitar in standard tuning at the moment, but I like E flat because the strings are that little bit looser and it gives a bit more deeper crunch. Plus you can play along to GN'R cds when tuned down and that's always a good thing. ok
