Perennial chart toppers The Eagles have hinted that they?ll release a new album in the first half of 2007.
Guitarist Joe Walsh told Billboard that the band has been recording basic tracks for the members to add lyrics to, ?We?ve got a bunch of stuff floating around.? After surmising that there should be an album of new Eagles material out next year, he quipped, ?It?ll be nice to have some new songs to play, ?cause we?re sick of the old ones.?
Two new songs did pop up on 2005?s ?Farewell 1: Live From Melbourne? DVD, Walsh's ?One Day at a Time? and "No More Cloudy Days" written by the other guitarist vocalist Glenn Frey.
This will be the first time the band has come up with fresh music since 1979?s ?The Long Run?. Not that this has troubled them in the charts over the last 27 years, since they are still one of the world?s highest selling musical acts. Their 1976 ?Greatest Hits? album has reportedly sold 29 times platinum and is the highest selling American album of all time.

Eagles May Have New Album Soon
Jan 31, 4:23 PM EST
After nearly 30 years, California's classic rock group the Eagles may soon release their first album of all-new music.
Founding member Don Henley said during a private weekend concert that the band was nearing completion on an album of all-new material, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Tuesday.
"It's coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we don't kill each other first," Henley told the crowd Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Eagles and Henley spokesman Larry Solters said Wednesday there was no comment.
"The Long Run" in 1979 was the Eagles last album featuring all-new studio material. That album included the Grammy-winning single "Heartache Tonight."
The group officially disbanded in 1982, then they reunited in 1994 for a comeback tour featuring Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder.
The band appeared together again in 1998, with past members Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Henley, 59, will be honored Feb. 9 as the 2007 MusiCares Person of the Year. The annual gala put on by the Recording Academy and the MusiCares Foundation is among the festivities leading up to the 49th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center on Feb. 11.
Henley, who has a home in Dallas, was selected for his achievements as a musician and for his philanthropic work benefiting environmental issues and musicians' rights and concerns.
MusiCares, established by The Recording Academy in 1989, provides assistance to individuals in the music industry during times of need.

The Eagles are poised to release their first album of new material in 28 years, according to group co-founder Don Henley, who reportedly spilled the beans last weekend during a private Las Vegas concert.
"It's coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we don't kill each other first," Henley told the audience at the MGM Grand Arena, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The singer/drummer also hinted at an upcoming Eagles tour with the remark, "I'll see you this summer."
The Eagles have not issued a new studio set since 1979's "The Long Run."

Joe Walsh sets solo trek
Veteran rocker Joe Walsh will play US cities from coast to coast on a solo tour that kicks off later this month.
The guitarist/singer/songwriter, known for his powerful guitar licks and off-the-wall lyrics, will start June 27 in Primm, NV, and so far has dates through the end of August. He'll also make a stop in Rama, Ontario. The itinerary is listed below. On-sale dates can be found at Walsh's website.
Walsh's career took off in the early '70s when he scored two gold albums with his first band, The James Gang, and then embarked on a solo career. In 1976, he was asked to join the Eagles, and they immediately shot to No. 1 with "Hotel California."
Meanwhile, Walsh continued with his solo work, issuing his biggest pop hit, "Life's Been Good," in 1978.
After a 14-year hiatus, the Eagles reunited in 1994 for the highly successful "Hell Freezes Over" tour and live album. Walsh has toured regularly with the band since then and is currently working on a new Eagles album, according to various reports.
Last year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also reunited with The James Gang for a summer/fall tour.

Eagles Prepping New Studio Album, Tour
The Eagles are planning to take flight with a long-awaited new album and a tour. Guitarist Joe Walsh tells Billboard.com that the album -- the Eagles' first full-length studio set since "The Long Run" in 1979 -- is "almost out. We're just finishing vocals and mixing it. We're all finally signing off on it."
Walsh says that all of the band members -- himself, Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Timothy B. Schmit -- wrote songs for the album, which he says "go in some really, really new, different directions. It's hard to compare to anything that I hear out there now." For his songs, however, Walsh "went rock'n?roll," including one "extended" track with "a middle full of guitar statement" and another that's "full-on rock'n'roll. I didn't want us to be too ballad-y here. We need some stuff we can play live, so I made sure there was that element in the record."
Walsh says the band, which took this year off the road to hunker down on the album, plans to tour extensively in 2008.
The guitarist is hardly sitting at home, however. Though he's put the James Gang on ice until he has more time to dedicate to it, he's playing 13 solo shows in the next month, beginning tonight (July 31) in Saratoga, Calif. Walsh has recruited a band of well-credentialed young players such as Gia Ciambotti (Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams) and Drew Hester (Lisa Marie Presley, Foo Fighters), who he says "are really kicking me in the pants."
"I love the energy and the attitude of a younger band, especially on stage," Walsh says. "I'm less cautious and less ... professional, I guess. I just like to rock'n'roll, and they're making me want to do it more."
Walsh adds that he's jonesing a bit to do some solo recording again but, not surprisingly, says, "I don't think I would cancel being an Eagle and resurface with a solo career. I love being in the Eagles, and we're not really done yet.
