It is definitely not a new sound. I personally can't stand Industrial music, but I did like "Oh My God" because great lyrics made the song. In my opinion, Shackler's is a less interesting version of OMG, and 10 years later. I understand they can't all be zingers, but just thought they would introduce us with something a little less drastic of a change from the old stuff. Not too worried about it, again I think the album will be good, but this song definitely lowers my expectations a bit. If you have good songwriting, which Axl is one of the best, and traditional arrangements(real instruments) you can't go wrong. It's when you get too synthesizer heavy that you run into problems. I never really understood the fascination with Robin F, or Tommy, but Brain was an amazing drummer, why not utilize his talents? I could play the drums on this song, and I've never played. Now that Robin is gone, a guitarist more rooted in the blues would be nice. Axl can do better than Nine Inch Nail's trash. Bumblefoot or whatever his name is  was pretty damn amazing when I saw him live I must say, though he can get a little tom morello whacky sometimes. It's a very strange cast of characters to say the least, and I'm very interested in hearing how they all gel as a unit.

It's a song in a video game.

Relax a bit.

It's So Easy was the first UK single from AFD.

It definitely wasn't the biggest hit on the album....

Civil War was put on a compilation album. It wasn't the first single from the Use Your Illusion albums......

I know, I was referring to Brain drumming on Shacklers Revenge. Any drummer for that matter. I'm not a fan of that standard beat. A machine can do that for you, know what I mean?

^ I think it's awesome. Didn't think before, but now, with the proper mix, I do.

why would you let Sheryl Crowe cover SCOM.

Understand music licensing and rights first before making such statements. You are 100% allowed to cover whatever song you want without seeking permission. Your only debt is credit and royalties.

This is 100% false just fyi.  You are not allowed to record any song you like under copyright laws and not only would you be liable, but anyone else who used the covered song would be liable.  Savage Garden sampled a piece of a Rolling Stone song, they had asked for permission and turned down, they were sued out of their minds.  Axl has allowed his songs to be in countless of things and yes her turns down the things that he feels in the end will not make him more money.  Why do you think hes sitting on 100 songs?  You cant honestly believe that the record company for years havent wanted to release it.  And again it is not the type of music, I really like industrial music, just go to a NIN board and see how fans who have heard it are laughing about it.  Its not a new sound, White Zombie had this sound 15 years ago minus the guitars which again are the best part of the song.

You made your first mistake by using the internet message board of another band to gauge reactions.  First of all, there is a fairly sizeable faction of NIN who hate GnR/Axl and will dismiss anything he releases regardless of what it sounds like.  Second, the internet is not representative of the general population.  A ton of people online are overly negative and bitch and moan about everything, they don't accurately represent the general population.  It happens with movies, music, sports, video games, everything.  So, some guy on an NIN board who doesn't like GnR in the first place doesn't really represent the record buying public.
What an excellent post! Good job! ok

I guess it's Robin - if Olorin is talking about the guitar when Axl sing "I've got an itchy finger".

I was. The version I have all those little details are lost in the poor sound quality. The industrial soundscape is overbearing, it just seems to rumble on.

One positive is that Axl's voice seems to sound stronger than on some of the other demos.
