Iron Maiden in stolen guitar plea

Rock band Iron Maiden have asked their fans to be on the lookout for a guitar stolen after a concert in Athens.

"It will be extremely hard to get rid of as it's the only one in the world," reads a message on the band's website.

The British group are offering a signed tour jacket and a letter of thanks from guitarist Adrian Smith as a reward.

The veteran rockers performed in Greece on Saturday as part of their current European tour. Their next concert will be in Warsaw, Poland on Thursday.

Signature

The missing instrument is described as a white Jackson Stratocaster with a white scratch plate and an ebony fretboard.

The serial number of the guitar, which bears Smith's signature, is 8467.

In a bad weekend for vintage rockers, a truck full of instruments and stage gear belonging to singer Iggy Pop and his band The Stooges was stolen in Montreal.

Among the items taken on Sunday was the Gibson guitar bassist Mike Watt first used in the early 1980s.
