Who here is willing to admit that they bought the TWILIGHT DVD. I did. ok

I'm afraid I didn't.  Perhaps I'll Netflix it.

By the way, and perhaps this has been answered....my understanding is that this is a movie/book about a vampire and some girl in high school.  Wouldn't that make him, as an immortal being, a child molester or something?

Yep, pretty much---and this is what we are letting 10 and 11 year olds read these days.

My netflix list has like 250 movies in it...I'm sure there are many I'll never get to.

You gotta be on top o' this, what with that bun in the oven.  We'll call it "pre-parenting".

It's funny you say that because before I was pregnant I was having a conversation with my ex boss and she told me she bought the book for her pre-teen.  I was appalled and said, don't you know the whole premise is pretty much a pedo vampire going after a HS girl?

At 12 my parents didn't even want me to see "Dirty Dancing."  When I was really young I was only allowed to watch PBS shows and then gradually more stuff over time.

I'm not saying to shade kids from everything but do we need to put the stuff right in their hands?

Who exactly was the target audience when this lady wrote the books?  Then you make a movie and cast some emo's in it and who is gonna watch it?  Young girls, that's who.

I went to the release party at my local Borders, I had so much fun!

I can TOTALLY relate to my peers.

damn there was a lot of jailbait at walmart tonight  Shocked

That's illegal.  Shocked
I am so jealous! I had to work today, so I couldn't go! Were there any movie stars there?

Yeah man, Axl Rose showed up briefly!  He just picked up his copy and rushed off.  I'm guessing he wanted to watch it and have some Lucky Charms, as he was still in his PJ's.

His TWILIGHT PJ's!

Stephenie was inspired by an actual dream to write the books. The publisher put them in the young adult section. I think 11 and 12 is too young. 13 and up is more age appropriate. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in high school and she fell in love with 2 different vampires who were much older than her. When I went to one showing of TWILIGHT I saw some 11 or 12 year olds and they were so offended when I asked if they were waiting to see BOLT. But my fav show GOSSIP GIRL which is a total guilty pleasure, is SO INAPPROPIATE  for it's target audience. But if I had kids I would want to be a cool Mom so I would let my kids watch both. Now 50 Cent's song CANDY SHOP which was basically an ode to blowjobs was horrific to my ears when I  thought about young girls singing to it.

One of my coworkers plays that song for a 3 year old on her iphone and that little chick totally rocks out!

LOL. Most of the people of today guess they don't know what a song means when its obvious.

This book review of TWILIGHT is really good and sums up the mystique. http://www.salon.com/books/review/2008/07/30/Twilight
Not everybody likes everything. I can't get into the Harry Potter books because I find the characters annoying.

You know what's funny. My one friend was offended that the author "shoved her Mormon values onto people" because Edward and Bella didn't have sex until they were married when she became 18.
