I think GNR might pick one of the newer bands to get some of the kids to listen to some GNR if they havent.

Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed & Cambria, Billy Talent, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Baz, System of a Down, Lostprophets, etc...
just get 2-3 solid openers and a major headliner to co-headline with and a stadium tour isn't that far fetched.
so pumped for when this thing gets a rollin'!
System of a Down said they'd reform and open for GNR if the old lineup ever reunited.  I love'em, but I don't think they're an option.

OMG!! I didn't know SOAD had said this. It's my second favorite band ever, but as they are on hiatus I never thought of suggesting them.
Serj please reunite System and open or co-headline with Guns!  drool

yes - but would Billy Corgan's ego allow him to open for Gn'R? unlikely; but i'd love to see it happen though!

by the way, any chance of Sixx:A.M. having an opening slot?
Nikki did double duty for both Crue & SixxAM during Cruefest1; Ashba could pull it off for the Gn'R tour & it'd be baddass  drool

Papa Roach wasn't bad in 2006.
Personally I'd like to see the smashing pumpkins, or if they had Weezer open again.

id love to see Nightwish open for GnR two totally different styles but love the direction each band has going.

By the way has a female fronted band ever opened for GNR at any time in the past? I think that would be a cool option maybe evanesence, fly leaf maybe lita ford can open for axl and bumblefoot can pull double duty

Would the Smashing Pumpkins be a good fit ?

I saw the reformed Smashing Pumpkins and they put on a good show; though unlike GNR, they have a touch of the "Radiohead syndrome" in that they don't usually play their hits.  Makes you appreciate GNR's hit-focused set lists a bit more when you see a band play nothing but deep cuts that only appease the die-hard fans.

Mind you, I don't think Billy Corgan's ego would allow himself to "open" for anyone, let alone GNR.  The only band that big bands will open for these days is the Rolling Stones.

Cheers,

Andrew

If they were to go with some of the bigger Canadian bands out there right now, my vote would be Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, IllScarlett or perhaps Default.

I know Billy Talent and IllScarlett both released CDs this year and our free during the months of January and February.  Not a huge fan of either band (though the drummer in my band's brother is the lead guitarist in IllSarlett), they'd both be a good choice in terms of draw and sound.  Bill Talent I know is huge in Europe and Canada, though not well known elsewhere.

Check 'em out:

I wouldn't mind Avenged Sevenfold, but then again, I don't care since all that matters is I'm seeing Guns N Roses on Feb 4!

illScarlett would be doable

Billy Talent is too big in Canada at this point. They're playing the ACC in March - headlining. It would be awesome to see them open, I love them live (I have tix to the ACC show) but I doubt they're going to open when they've got their own headlining tour 2 months later.
