Exellent choice! Smiley

He can compose (does it matter in this context?), can play and has both looks and stage-precence.
Another musician that "has his own scene" into the live-mix. peace

For us bitter Bucketfans, maybe this make watching beareable? Kidding! Tongue

That guy ruined Motley Crue.

Didn't you wan't MC to be more oldschool, and GnR is not oldschool music. hihi

The best player out there that would have "fit" is Doug Aldrich.  Period.  End of story.  If you don't know who he is, look him up, he has it all. Everything D could ever dream of.

I think he looks cool as fuck on stage personally

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBEIWu3zHGY

He just doesn't seem like he would fit in with Guns N' Roses.  I see more of a Motley Crue, Buckcherry, and God I say Hinder....

P.S.  when writing this post I couldn't remember the name of Hinder  rofl had to google them.

more of a comparison as to why I think this new guy isnt't good for GN'R.

When did you see him with GN'R? Did they play a show in Finland already?

/jarmo
I guess we were talking about him writing for GN'R. Writing songs, which he has done previously.
Maybe I missed the gig...

Well, so far I didn't like it.

I've heard SoLA and BC and I think they are a huge piece of shit.

But I know very little about his guitar playing and, judging by what I know, I think his a regular guitar player, you can find others like him anywhere. Robin, on the other hand, he has a different style, a different approach that you don't see very often, IMHO. He's kinda like Slash on that matter.

Anyways, I wish him all the best on GN'R, and, even though they don't have nothing to prove to anyone, I hope to be proven wrong about this

Welcome onboard, dude! See you on the road!  beer

here is bit of a solo.

With Axl guiding him though, who knows what he can do though. He already has a shit load of talent and SONG WRITING talent.

Robin is a cover guitarist no matter how u guys want to slice it.  He plays music mostly written by other people. Is it a coincidence that the guy in 10 years, has ONE writing credit on CD?

DJ Ashba is already proven and GNR need a hitmaker on the roster at guitar.

Richard like Robin is also more of a cover/live/touring guy so far
bumble we will have to see if he can write mainstream music

but DJ is proven

so its a great wonderful addition to this band.

Cool clip and a good song for "them", but it said Nikki wrote that song when he got clean or something.  Out side of the solo, everything else guitar wise was very basic.  The solo was good.

why is basic a bad thing?

One thing I miss on CD is those heavy, headbanging rocking fucking guitar riffs.

Lets be real, CD lacks those types of riffs.

This guy can bring the headbanging fist pumping riff.

as i said, u let Axl push and coach and challenge him, mixed with Axl's vocals over his guitar skill..... u are gonna have magic.

I thought that was what Bumble was for?!?!?!?!

When i mean riffs, I mean fucking riffs, not power chords played to a rythym.  Purple Haze, Satisfaction, Smoke on the Water, Welcome to the Jungle, Back In Black, I miss those kind of riffs, I don't want more of the riff from Chinese Democracy (the song), that isn't really what I call a riff....  I mean it is, but it isn't.  It isn't sleazy or grimey like Nighttrain or Mr. Brownstone and this guy has NEVER written riffs like that.

I'd say you can make a fairly accurate prediction of how/what he writes by listening to previous records. Thats at least what we were basing our arguments WITH D.

I think Axl has a plan for GnR. He got the sound he wanted with Robin, and with CD. So now it may take GnR into a deeper direction. As the new stuff is supposed to be more intense then CD. Maybe Ashba can do more in the studio too.

What made Robin and Fortus great, is that they go nuts when playing the songs. Finck is all over the stage and Fortus has un real energy.

I get where u are coming from Makane, but u can't cancel out the Axl factor. When writing for Motley, he has to write in the MOTLEY style.

so what if he writes in the GNR style?

My point is, the guy is an accomplished songwriter something very much lacking in GNR. now this isn't a diss on GNR guitar players, but lets be real about their Resumes for a moment.

no gnr guitarist has a hit to their credit in their entire careers.

DJ does and u put Axl's influence with him and it is untelling what kind of stuff we can get.
