Encouraged by this.
Why get a new guitarist
Without future plans?

I think they're looking
To play at least a few shows...
Otherwise, no point

In bringing him in.
I see this as a great thing.
My words to God's ears... Wink

I pulled out a Bon Jovi tribute album to upload on my IPOD N' DJ Ashba is the guitarist on all the songs..Coolest cover is Corey Clarke singing Blaze of Glory!!

D hates cover bands, but he loves Ashba and BJ.

What are your thoughts on this, D?

And what do the Bon Jovi haters who love DJ Ashba say to this?

Those tribute albums (Cleopatra records ones etc) - and there are a bunch of them - are quick paydays for musicians not necessarily making a steady income... That's why you'll see such bizarre combos as an ex Bullet-Boy/Beautiful Creature and the singer from Warrior Soul doing  a Jon Bon Jovi track.

Doesn't actually mean either of them gives a damn about Jovi (although he may, I have no idea).

I do hate cover bands with a passion and if this were all DJ had ever done, I'd think he was a joke

HOWEVER

He has proven his artistic and writing abilities on Sixx A:M and Motley's SOLA album so that earns respect and erases the corny, cheesy BJ tribute album.

That first Beautiful Creatures album is better than either of those IMO. Not sure how much of the writing he did, but they certainly weren't as good on their second album without him.

I believe he was the main song writer for their first album, at least that's what Alex Grossi said in a recent interview.  And he wasn't around for the second album, so he can't be blamed for that one.

yea it's how it sounds in GNR that counts.

but really... i think the guitar looks cool. and like it or not there's nothing freakish in his clothing style. neat on both front.

I certainly hope that the guitar sounds good in GnR, because I saw a great guitarist last night playing a couple of different classic Les Pauls that sounded great.  Who was that guitarist?  Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Robin Finck.
Well that's great for you, but this thread is about Dj. Sorry.

Your point?  The comment does relate to Dj.  If he is to replace Robin, he has some big shoes to fill IMHO.  That's all I was saying.
True but I think DJ has the experence to handle it just fine just sit and watch my friend.

Is the tophat something DJ has worn in the past? It would be sad  if he started wearing one because of GNR.

He's also using Alnico Pro 2 pickups. That's a big part of Slash's tone. They give you such a thick tone.

WOW! Awesome ad!!! Love how they're very up front about promoting his connection to Guns N' Roses and give GUNSNROSES.com a shout out too!! ok

Meanwhile... lighten up on the top hat guys... it's not the exact same style as Slash's "signature top hat"... and unlike Slash... you can actually see DJ's face! Very different look IMHO... different enough at least. Wink

Anyway... Axl has guys with KFC Buckets and storm trooper uniforms on stage and gets slammed by the fans for abandoning the Guns N' Roses "look"... then he adds guys who look like Izzy (Fortus) or wear top hats (Ashba) and gets knocked for "stealing the old GN'R look"!?!? He can't win! Tongue

He wore it before he was ever in Guns. I think the top hat is awesome and he's smoking a cig in that pic 2!

That is awesome!  What is Seymour Duncan?  Something to do with guitars I presume?  That tophat looks natural, not like he's trying to recreate something.  It might just be his affiliation with the guys, but he looks like he belongs in Motley Crue.  Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad he's in Guns N' Roses.  Love the look.

Seymour Duncan are pick ups in a guitar.  I was alittle bit skeptical at first but DJ should fit in just fine.

Alnico II Pro and a top hat, jeez, i wonder where he got that from...

very unoriginal. but then again it's just an ad. but that's what i call not bringin anything new to the table.

The pickups are the only one's slash uses regardless of which guitar he uses and he has endorsed those for years.

The top hat for a gn'r photoshoot... no comments necessary again.

regardless of the obvious copied image, he is a decent guitar player and is fun to see live. i hope they eventually tour.

Sorry but the top hat is terrible and what's with the fucked up looking Les Paul. That's like buying pre-ripped jeans.

it's not as if this was the first time he's in the jamiroquai-went-rock look.

question for our HTGTH guitarists. is Seymour Duncan and lespaul sorta necessary setup for some GNR songs?
