Well guys

it all happened after 103 minutes standing in the pub.  Henry clearly cheated to knock Ireland out of the world cup.

Anyone else seen it and got an opinion Huh

It's sad that games and who gets to go to the World Cup is decided that way.

Why not do what they do in many other sports and have the ability to check certain things on video before making a decision?

Instant Replay! Same reason Major League Baseball won't expand it anymore than it already is -- they want the umpires to have the final say at the time that it happens.

Yep, how many arguements does there need to be before its brought in.  Works really well in Rugby and doesn't affect the flow of the game at all.

Well I'm sure if France had been cheated out of their World Cup hopes, the rest of Europe, let's face it would have made a bigger fuss...

On the otherhand I don't think the Irish could care less in that scenario.

Cheating is a part of football, and sometimes can be part of the art of playing. People who love football dont want it converted into fucking NFL where you have cameras, microphones, sensors, and all kind of stuff. The essence of the sport gets severely hurt when you put machines to decide what humans should.

How many times Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona, Rivaldo or even Platini faked a foul? is that immoral or wrong? hell no, its part of the game, part of the skills a player can use. If the referee sees Henry's hand and then get him off the court, fine. It's a risk players can dedice to have or not.

Germany won a world cup in 1990 after Rudi V?ller faked a foul into argentina's area. Am i mad with him? do i hate him? Hell no, he did what he should have done!! The one i hate is the fucking referee, Codesal, not the player!!!

One of the most emblematic matchs in world cup history was argentina - england in mexico 1986. Maradona scored two unforgettable goals that day. One, the best of all World Cup goals ever, the second, the ''hand of god''.

Part of football history could have never been written if there was some ''hawk eye'' or smoething like that in that match, and I want sports be rules by humans, not machines.

and by the way, thank God Henry used his hand to qualify France. A World Cup without France is just lame. Henry is one of the best strikers ever and if I have to choose between France (world champion), a team plagued of stars, and... Ireland... you know what I would say

Very happy to see France in the world cup. I want the best teams in the world cup.

What people did to Henry in barcelona - athletic bilbao, when they booed Henry, is just PATHETIC. They clearly dont understand and dont feel what football is about. Football is not fucking chess.

Henry cheated, end of story. He has had a glorious career so far and is a fantastic football player. But in that game he cheated. In fact he hand balled the ball twice. I agree he should not be made a Villan by fans because of this. But he should be punished by FIFA, a few games ban at the least. The reason we have idiots diving or cheating like this, week in/week out in football is that they get away with it all the time. Where as if they were punished by bans or fines. It would stop. Also there should be a lines man behind each goal.
If the French FA  had any balls they would have agreed to a replay. I'am pretty sure if they had, FIFA would have also agreed to it.
As to France being a better team, why because the have Henry and Anelka, who else have they?? Ireland were the better team in both legs of this playoff. Anelka scored a deflected goal in Dublin and France did not even look like scoring in Paris until Henry cheated his way to setting up the Gallas goal.
Game should have been replayed, but FIFA the cowards would not agree to it because it would mean one of the so called "BIG TEAMS" might not get through to the world cup. They set-up the paly-offs anyway by seeding teams. The world cup will miss the Irish fans and team alot more than they would the French fans and team.

Karim Benz..
William Gallas
Franck Rib...

ect...

Practially most of the team, player-for-player vs. Ireland.

Robbie Keane...? Would he get in the France side?

William Gallas is a has been.
Frank Rib I agree is a good player.

The point is Ireland were cheated out of a place at the world cup by France. Who dont have the honesty to admit they cheated and replay the game. This whole situation could have been avoided if Henry had simply gone up to the Ref and said I handballed the ball not just one time but twice. Not only that but he ran off and celebrated the goal even knowing he had done it. Then he comes out after the game and admits it and says sorry, too late mate.

oh god, there was one million cases of goals made using the hand, or other so called cheats, and there was never a repeated match because of this. how many goals in offside were scoared? How many penalties were faked by the forwards, how many penalties were not given by the referee, even in world cups!

Maradona for example. Wink Hand of god, yeah right, hand of a cheat. Even he only touched the ball once, Henry almost cupped the ball to Gallas.

estebanf if Argentina had gone out this way would you be happy??

Sorry to keep going on about it, but I just cannot stand cheating in any shape or form.

I would be EXTREMELY pissed off and frustrated, of course, and I would probably make a voodoo to Henry  hihi , but I would never ask for a match repetition. I dont want technology to be used as a referee. I dont want football, which is imho the most beautiful sport in the world, to be converted into something that can be decided from outside the field. Players make mistakes, so do the referees, so do the dirigents involved in football.

Maradona used his hand to score against England. Ok. Then, for the doubters, he dodged 6 english players, the goalkeeper included, to score the best goal of football history. How many other ''cheats'' did he do? Well, none. And how many times has he been severely injured by kicks and brutal fouls from his opponents? Example:

Spaniard Goicoetxea breaks Maradona's ancle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08SI2DWnfL4

I really think this is way more dramatic and a bigger cheat than a hand. Maradona was out of courts for 5 months, and had to have a surgery in his leg.

To clear this out, i dont think ''cheating'' like Henry is good or fair. I think its a risk that a player knows he's taking. Then, ALL responsability goes to the referee, which is a human like players are and can make mistakes. What people from Bilbao did, booing Henry for his hand, is pathetic imho.

Well I disagree greatly on the French team not being very good.

...But at least Henry didn't call the moment "Hand Of Frog", but... I think some people did.

btw... Even if France had not scored, Ireland still had to score or win on pentaties, so the argument is might have won, not would have won.

while we're at it why not replay the england argentina game, and why not the FA cup final a few years ago arsenal v liverpool, or chelsea barcelona in the champions league, loads of bad decisions in that.

Henry should get a suspension but thats all that should be done.

Oh, get over it. If the Irish were that bothered, they should have played better, rather than rely on a one goal advantage. If you had put in 3, it wouldn't have mattered, would it?

I'm not really into 'football' but this has been getting some mainstream US attention..

I guess the league wants to punish the player for this incident??

They miss the call and get all of the heat and want to take it out on the player?
What a pathetic cop-out attempt
