Plaxico Burress is out of jail and ready for football.

He better be prepared to take a very small contract that has a few incentives (and conditions).  Honestly, folks are talking Eagles and Rams...I'd be very surprised if this guy is going to be able to contribute in 2011.
The Rams NEED Randy Moss.  Folks can dog this guy all they want...the man is a stud.  Whatever team lands him (that has an above average quarterback) will reap amazing benefits.  If he goes to a team with a schlub qb, he'll tank.  With a very good qb, he'll light it up.  Mark my words!   yes  The dude is NOT finished.  Watch him burn Revis in the first game of 2010...that wasn't too long ago.  Randy should show up to whatever team who signs him pushing a walker...just to fuck with peoples' minds.    hihi

Oh hell no!  With Palmer gone...possibly starting Dalton...with Chad Johnson and AJ Green...the Bengals are fine at wideout.
New England should float a lowball to middle ground offer...the Jets could use the guy too.  The man can stretch the field
...just hire quality caterers for meals.   hihi

I'd like to see Plaxico join the Eagles (although we might have to change our name to the Jailbirds with him and Vick on the same team). I doubt he'd produce much between the 20's, but he should still be an excellent red zone target. He towers over most CBs.

the lockout will be in place for at least another month..if not much longer

Not unless things change drastically in the next 48 hours.

Since it's leaked already:

Players and owners are meeting "secretly" in New York.  They have been for the past few days.

I'm not saying any more than that...but I still think we'll hear about a deal shortly.  It might be outside the original 72 hours that I thought it would be...but I'm still pretty confident it will be sooner rather than later.

Neither side wants the courts to issue a ruling on this.

If falling short means making the playoffs but not going to the Super Bowl, I'd say yeah.  The NFC North sucks.  GB is almost automatic to win the North.

I don't know what I'm going to do if there's no NFL come September.   nervous

There are reports out there that the two sides have come to an agreement, though nothing is official yet.  But things certainly seem to be moving in the right direction at the very least.

I've heard that the deal is basically done except for some smaller details and a final/final revenue sharing % (they've got the basic working number done).

They also have to work out some "alumni" contribution issues for the league (their contribution to existing programs designed to help out former NFL players), which might get supplemented by the NFLPA.

It'll probably be a couple more weeks til they announce anything official....but the meetings in NYC last week pretty much sealed the deal, barring some minor detail evolving into a huge dust up.

ESPN is reporting they hope to have a deal for the percentage of revenue shared by both sides in the next 2 or 3 days. We'll see.

AFAIK, both sides consider themselves to have a deal "in principal".

Lawyers got more involved over this past weekend (and even more so on Monday).  Basically, they're drafting legalese that satisfy both sides.

Deal will probably be ratified by the owners at the owners meeting and announced pretty shortly thereafter.

As you said, though...we'll see.

Edit: I was just told the lawyers have been booted again, so the players and league can actually negotiate some more and "not listen to the lawyer crap."

Yeah, it appears the lawyers nearly fucked it up royally again. They need to keep the lawyers out of it until they are needed to draft the language of the deal and that's it.

...and now I won't hear much more.

Apparently, both sides are ticked off about the information that's being made public and they've drastically cut down on the number of people "in the room".  They've also pretty much locked down everyone in the room in terms of blackberries/iphones, etc.

If that is what it takes to get it done so be it. Its good to see both sides getting serious about getting this done.

Now it appears the owners are holding up the deal.

SOME owners are bitching.  A relatively small group.

We'll see if they can withstand the pressure that's going to be put on them at the owners meeting.
