So considering we're getting/kind of got Perhaps, The General and Monsters (hurry up December!), what tracks does everyone hope the band polishes off next?

Based on Slash's comments I think a lot of us figure there'll be a couple more, Atlas Shrugged was the (very unverified) rumor. Just curious what people are hoping for though?

Atlas/SOG seems obvious, but I still want to hear Oklahoma, Quick Song, Devious Bastard, D Tune, and Me and My Elvis with vocals. Like a lot. We can kind of assume Oklahoma has them considering it was supposedly written about the bombing...

Atlas has always been the best in the vault and probably slash can do a good job on it so i hope it would be that one.

Yeah it being repurposed for Hard Skool doesn't bode well for that one.
Maybe in a box set some day.

State of Grace sounds like Axl fucking around in the studio trying to make the band laugh by singing as ridiculously and pitchy as possible. It blows my mind that anyone takes that seriously as a song.

Atlas is the only one that stands any real chance of being released from what we've heard. I could care less about the instrumentals because it's Axl's vocals that make the songs. I've never been all that impressed by the CD era songwriting, with some exceptions. It's Axl that elevates the music to another level.

Agree on Axl making the songs. The instrumentals I listed are the ones I feel Axl would make AMAZING!! The rest of the instrumentals are the band just fucking around in the studio when Axl wasn't around....is my guess.

Edited to add: I feel Axl wanted to try something different with State of Grace. And I LOVE IT! Especially when he kicks into gear halfway through the 4-Minute Track. His wail at the end is incredible and the funky bass taking it to its end with wailing guitars makes that song strong.

I predict it will see the light of day as a single. UMG is very quick to scrub that one off YT whenever it's posted.

I've been listening to the song over and over again... are you saying that that I love a song that is actually Axl and the band f****ing around, that I know nothing about music... rofl
Jokes aside, I think of it as a demo, but a demo that has grown on me. There is something that really attracts me to the song.
I agree with the songwriting on the CD era. Parts of some songs sound, kind of, too simple, compared to what I was used to on UYI and AFD. I am not sure if it is the three chord issue you mentioned in another post, or is the chorus kind of too simple. Better, Absurd and scraped are maybe the most obvious. On the other hand we have Don't Cry and knocking on heavens door, whose chorus is simple, yet the song is much more appealing to the general audience. I kind of feel there is that smart detail that I miss in some CD era songs that almost all UYI songs have.
All this sounds a bit harsh. I really love the CD songs, even more so because they are different. I am just analyzing what it is that I miss compared to the earlier period...

Checking on that. I got the info from a friend who thought he figured it out. Waiting to hear back from him. If the info lacks credibility, I'll edit it out.

I like state of grace more than atlas, atlas sounds incomplete, without structure. I do agree that the vocals kind of suck... although it has its good moments, especially the second half of the song.
