A-HA
That's about it
you are forgetting Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem and such black metal bands, they are just as rock as A-HA :p
and they are the leading black metal band in the world... but im not into that kinda music anyway.. hehe
and we can say that Matt Sorum's grandparents (or their parents again) where from Norway... not far from Bergen. so thats cool

A-HA and Turbonegro of course.
also tons of black or death metal bands, I don't care what the difference between the two are.
I also see albums by Madrugada in record shops here in Brussels, and people I know have seen them on festivals here, so they seem to get some attention outside of Norway.
I have also heard Kaizers Orchestra down here, I can't really figure out why though. not that they're awful or anything, but they sing in norwegian...
a girl put it on and asked me countinously through the song, "whats he singing?"
I guess there are other ones too, but they ain't coming to mind at this point.
my country right now is Belgium, and I have no idea what they have contributed to rock...not much as far as I know.
I think the biggest rock band they've had here the past decade is Deus, and the singer there is half norwegian! (haha)

of course there is no us and them, but them they do not think the same

In Australia we have an unique phenomenon called Pub Rock. Two band of note here are - The Angels and Cold Chisel.
Also, we have a little known band called AC/DC. The original lead singer, Bon Scott - ROCKED!
You forgot to mention another band still flying the flag for Aussie Pub Rock -
The Screaming Jets
And let's not forget about
Rose Tattoo
either, they had a slight bit of influence on the band that this board is dedicated to!

1) Freddie Mercury (Queen, one of the greatest frontmen of all time)
2) Kim Thayil (Lead Guitarist, SoundGarden)
How many generations removed from India are they though... In that case Every American Band can be claimed by another country.
Or, more accurately, since the blues developed in America, we can claim all other bands (but only the good ones)! Muahahahaha!
Better yet, since the blues came from slave music, Africa is the home of rock n' roll.

How can the aussies forget - Stevie Wright and The Easy Beats. Do you know that Angus Young's brother wrote/produced for them. He also had great input into that other legendary aussie band The Angels (and many others). Is it ok to claim Cold Chisel as our own? Jimmy too came from the land of purple heather and thistle?
