Let's put things in perspective. You're holding the first GN'R album in years in your hands. And what do you wanna talk about?

Some errors in the fucking booklet.....

I think that is really messed up logic. Yeah, everyone's excited to have the album, and listen to it, and talk about it, and of course read the booklet as well. It doesn't mean that if you want to talk about the booklet, it's automatically the only thing you find relevant. But it is one subject among many, and one part of the entire experience. This being a GNR forum, of course every little detail of the album is going to be discussed - hell, that's one of the reasons people come here, because they can get in-depth information about GNR & CD that probably wouldn't be discussed at some random music site. In my opinion, that is the whole point; that you can find several, several topics about a multitude of different subjects. Even if some are less vital than others.

Anyway, in short: fuck censorship. That is a weak way of handling things.

the booklet is great.  artwork is awesome.   i haven't even seen any errors and GnR has never released so much detail in a booklet, thats why i find the bitching to be a bit silly.

Well, sir, you are either blind or in denial. I too love the detail in credits etc. but the errors in the lyrics section are not a matter of opinion.

I don't think there was any negativity to begin with. Just neutral discussion. Negativity spawned with the deletion of the thread. And justly so.

I posted the 2nd thread about the booklet. I had no idea it was such a touchy subject.

I was just looking to stir up some conversation, not stir up negativity. I sat and read everything the day I got it..... lyrics, thank you's, and who played what on a particular song.

I thought it'd be interesting to talk about, but apparently we arent aloud to talk about that here....who knew?

The thread title says it all, its just a simple question. No need for people to sneer, swear or get all self righteous and act snidey.

You act like this is The Pentagon, and not a fan forum for a popular music act.

It's just a simple thread pointing out CLEAR errors in the booklet. Why shouldn't we be
able to discuss it? I notice there has been NO justfication for the deletion of the thread,
except to say...it happens, just get over it, Having CD in our hands is more important.

Basically it means..... What I Think is an important subject
to discuss IS important, and What you think is important isn't.

I agree, it's a sad state of affairs and it is quite baffling.  Curious fans seem to be looked on as some sort of usurper's.

Stepping back and looking at the picture as a whole, it speaks volumes, and it is very off-putting.

For the record, once again, that thread wasn't a thread about the typos.

It never started that way and didn't really ever get to that point either. U had a few people bring them up but it didn't dominate the thread nor was it even a part of it.

^ I had left the booklet open on my desk turned to that page, and my roommate comes across it and says, hey, isnt that the symbol on Gaara's forehead?  Grin ai!

 another naruto fan? Grin

yeah...  I'm a fan of Uchiha Sasuke   Grin

The Japanese kanji characters have their origins in the Chinese ones, so I thought I'd and try to use my Japanese-to-English dictionary to translate the symbols for Scraped, just for fun.

I think the the first symbol is for vocal, followed by katana, so I translate this as........

TONGUE SWORD!

And we're not talking about giving head anymore, that was resolved in the TWAT thread, so I take it to mean something like 'The voice is mightier than the sword'.   Axl's voice  Smiley

Wow. On the surface this seems like a GnR site. Then I enter the message board and it is nothing but a pro-Axl propaganda machine. Anything that even sounds like it may be against Axl is deleted, yet Slash is bashed non-stop. If VR would have released an album booklet with so many errors Jim Bob and Jarmo would have every flaw listed for all to see. Now that Axl has actually released something we are not to talk about anything negative? No talking about errors in the booklet? No talking about the fact that Axl has done nothing in the public eye to let people know GnR is back? C'mon, Axl is a musical genius for sure, but he is not perfect.

Here is something you wrote in the thread about Slash's book errors: "Assuming Axl writes a book one day, why do you automatically assume that he'd put his name on a book without any fact checking?" (http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=49802.60)

Well, he sure put the GnR name on a booklet and seemingly did so without a fact checker. Fact: lyrics in the CD book are wrong. We should just shut up and enjoy the music right? But if Slash is involved by all means feel free to point out any and all flaws?.

You dedicate an entire thread to errors in Slash's book, but we cannot talk about the fact that Axl's team could not get the correct lyrics? This whole CD promo has been pathetic. If the music did not kick such major ass I'd be pissed....

*snip*

 ok

The irony of it all is...

Rock vs. Censorship
"Chinese Democracy" vs. Freedom of speech
Rebellion vs. Conformity
Individualism vs. Corporatism

HTGTH is now a perversion of the values GNR & rock in general represent at their core.

A quote from The Dark Knight fits here IMO:

"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Perhaps the wait for CD was too long for HTGTH to handle afterall...

don'ty realise that GNR is the chinese democratic one. or go some anti chinese democracy site beer

It's not that obvious. The admins of the board are not straight up with what this board actually is and what it represents. The board is presented as an independent GNR forum, but in reality it's an viral extension of corporate marketing. This of course brings a myriad of problems when people entering the site have no idea of the bait-and-switch scheme pulled on them and act like we have freedom of speech and other liberties we're custom to on internet.

No amount of "funny" smileys is gonna change that. This issue will be the eventual downfall of HTGTH when people realize the truth and migrate to independent forums for free and unrestricted discussion on the topics they wish to discuss. FFS, I'm a pure Axl supporter, but I just registered at another GNR board as this here is unacceptable to me. A single act of censorship is too much in a free world! And a free world is where I want to live in. Online and IRL.

Slash hasn't been in the band for over 12 years.   You don't have to be a fan of his to be a GnR fan these days.

And thank god he isn't!     CD is lightyears ahead of any VR album, I don't want Axl collaborating with inferior musicans.

Point is, you are coming to a GnR site, so yea people don't care to see you bashing the members we are here to support.

If VR would have released an album booklet with so many errors Jim Bob and Jarmo would have every flaw listed for all to see.
Not me.  I wouldn't even have the album to know where the fuckups are in the liner notes.

Fact: lyrics in the CD book are wrong. We should just shut up and enjoy the music right? But if Slash is involved by all means feel free to point out any and all flaws?.
There may be a few typos here and there, but its not the doom and gloom you are making it out to be or that I've seen posted elsewhere.
