When I told my bro-in-law we weren't going to be seeing Sebastian, he was let down.
When I showed him a video or 2 of Taylor, he perked back up.  Smiley
My other buddy let me know she used to be on a show called Gossip Girl.  Ring a bell?
If I'm not mistaken, I remember hearing Baz was on that show.
Perhaps that was a connection that brought her to GNR's attention???

Can't wait till Saturday night!!!   peace

here's a link to an interview with Tommy Stinson.

http://www.wmmr.com/shows/matt-cord/

(scroll down to the second podcast.)

nothing earth shattering, but he talks about how well the tour is going, how good everyone is getting along, playing "My Generation" and maybe finding a song to replace it with, Duff probably opening shows in Seattle and Portland, and how long he has been in GnR.

Matt Cord is a DJ in philly and they are friends.

Portland, OR?  So, they are announcing more shows?  I hope they do that soon and that includes the Bay Area.

I remember a picture of Axl with Taylor in Paris last year, not sure if he had met her before.

Yeah.

Same TV network, different show. Haven't seen either, but I did youtube a few clips of Baz singing karaoke. I think they had him covering Britney Spears or something.

they do have a little bit of space to add a couple shows, so it is possible. but i'm also wondering if Tommy just mis-spoke.

i just called SBC and the woman on the phone told me the set times are:

Opener - 8:45PM
Main act - 10:00PM

all i wanted was the opening act's set time. sounds like 8:45 is the earliest they will come on and assuming a 45 minute set, and at least 30 minutes for GnR's stage set-up, 10pm is probably the earliest GnR will start. i'm not expecting a 10pm start, but it sounds like that's the time to be in there by to play it safe and ensure i don't miss anything.

65 and sunny today! i'll be tailgating by 7pm.   beer

Weather.com says it's supposed to be about 50 throughout the GN'R set. 48 by 2AM, so I'm telling everyone I know to dress warm.

« Reply #139 on: November 29, 2011, 02:49:57 PM »

What a fucking show!  I actually liked The Pretty Reckless. The chick had a better voice than i expected. Not to mention she looked hot and had some nice stripperesque moves (my date thought she was pretty hot, too). It's funny that she was Cindy Lou Who -- apparently the parenting skills in Whoville are a bit suspect. After the opener, we got some shirts (the one i wanted -- with the image of Axl inside the GNR lettering -- was sold out in my size, so i got another one, and i got a shirt for my date. I was glad to see a lot of people buying merchandise), got some beers, took a leak (no line for the women's -- huge line for the men's. What's up with that?!?), she smoked a cigarette and then we headed back in. Not much of a wait at that point. Personally, i don't mind the wait at a GnR show, i actually like it. It's part of the experience for me. Got right up to the stage on Richard's side (but ended up seeing plenty of Axl, DJ and Bumblefoot up close, too, during the course of the night). The crowd was into it, looked like a pretty full house to me. Right from the start -- this band kicks ass! Axl sounded awesome -- i can't get over how great he sounds right now. How does he do it?!? And the band is on fire. Best GnR show i've ever seen! (which of course means the best show i've ever seen, period!) The girl I went with was with me in 2002 in Philly when the band was a no-show. We just started hanging out again so it was cool she was able to come along. She's seen a lot of bands, but never GnR. She fell in love with DJ right away (i knew she would). He was playing just a few feet in front of us numerous times and i swear she had an orgasm while he was playing. (I wouldn't be surprised if she was thinking of him later back at the hotel -- that's okay, i was with Taylor Momsen for a little while back at the room, myself). She thinks Richard might be Ron Wood's illegitimate son. She couldn't get over how incredible the band sounded -- and this chick goes to a lot of rock concerts. And after seeing them in Wilkes-Barre the previous Sunday, i set the bar pretty high for what she should expect. For an almost 3 hour show, she couldn't believe how quick it went by. They played a few different songs than in Wilkes-Barre, which was cool. And being on the other side of the stage made it different as well. I still can't believe i was as close as i was. Did anyone else notice the rings Axl was wearing? They were like Elvis rings! Still the coolest fucking rock star on the planet! Towards the end of the show, DJ threw one of his picks and i just blindly put my hand up. I felt the pick hit my palm, closed my hand around it. Unbelievable. I told the chick i was with she could have it. (I think that might have gotten me some bonus points later). A guy i work with brought his 2 sons. This guy's 50, his sons are 18 and 15. He was blown away. He said Axl knows how to fucking put on a big rock show. And this guy's been to a lot of big rock shows, going back to the 70s. Both his sons loved it -- his younger one said it was "beautiful".  On the way back to the car, i heard some blowhard saying "the band was awesome, but Axl wasn't very good". What fucking show was he at?!?! It took some restraint to not get into a discussion with that idiot. I got a shirt in the parking lot for 5 bucks and gave it to my date for her 13 year old son (he loves it). She said she would love for him to see a show like this one. Anyway, i'm gonna say again that was the best concert i've ever been to. This band has been my favorite band since "Appetite" came out and i just think they continue to get better as they evolve. Thank you, Axl, for continuing to do justice to the GnR name. The only bummer for me was when "Paradise City" started and i knew it was almost over. At least in Wilkes-Barre i knew i had another show lined up. Hopefully, between the word of mouth and the great reviews from this tour, the band will be back around, maybe some summer shows. (If not, i'll just have to travel to see them).

To everyone who still has shows to attend on this tour -- enjoy 'em, you lucky bastards!  beer
