Great to learn more about Melissa, she seems like a really nice person.
The story about her parents finding out about her joining the band while she is onstage is pretty epic.

I wonder what went down with Pitman. Seems like he got the boot 3-4 weeks before the first show.

Melissa pulled a Gilby/Bumblefoot/Frank, joining the band days before the first gig

Didn't he get into some drunk social media rant about it being a cash grab tour, then tried to apologise via the same medium, but obviously, the damage had been already done...

I'm not saying anything to the contrary, but Mellisa was heard load and clear in London and we thought she's a great fit for the band. We hope that she gets a chance to record with them too.

http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=67121.0   ....here is the thread about Pitman's departure, so as to not rehash it here....

Melissa has been great.  Her back-up vocals are a solid addition to the live show.

The return of Duff and the addition of her just highlighted how dogshit the back-up vocals were during the CD era.  In truth, that contributed to some of the heat Axl took on his own vocals.  Dude was all alone in the wilderness up there most nights.

He did but that seems like it would be more like a reaction rather than the reason. In other words, something happened, he gets pissed, throws out an insult, then thinks: Oh shit, I need to apologize.
I doubt the tweet led to it although it probably didn't help.
