Seriously, what the hell has that man done for us in 10 years??  We paid for his house, we paid for his drug addictions, we paid for his legal trouble, we paid for his cars, his assistants, yet what has he done for US in the last ten years??

You paid for his house buy buying a product which you got. So what if he invested some of the money in a house, that's really not any of our business.

If you buy a pizza at a pizza place and take it home, do you expect the guy who owns the place to come over to your place and wash the dishes too? What has HE done for you lately?  hihi

I'm sure a lot of record company executives are living in nice houses because of us buying albums, are you gonna demand stuff from them as well?  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the compliment SLCPUNK!.........I'm sorry if I stepped on anyones toes here. I'm really a sweet, wonderful person. I just don't like remarks that degrade Axl, Dizzy or the whole band, old and new members.  peace

Does this band still have a guitar player??

Well...what band are you talking about?? This is getting ridiculous. but I guess with no official news. The rumors will keep coming...surely, Guns N Roses should know this by now...

and by the way there are some remarks and abuses in this thread that should not be spoken between us gnr-fans...=)

I mean...take it for what it is!

I, as usual, agree with Dizzy and Booker.  This is now beyond ridiculous.  What was once a great and proud rock and roll band has been destroyed.  It is now to the point that history will see this band as a joke and not as one of the great rock bands of all time.   Cry

There is nothing sadder than watching a great legacy destroyed by an ego.  I just see Axl as a modern day Nero.  He is the egotistical idiot in his house playing the violin as Rome burns all around him.  And what is worse is that he appears to be oblivious to the fact that he has destroyed his own legacy.

such bullshit. you'll eat your words when guns n' roses are on stage again, AND when chinese democracy comes out.
and by the way, the legacy of axl rose is already there, and he couldn't destroy it if he tried.

Dizzy, Booker and you are all great people because you argue well, and you all have valid arguments

But outside of that, strip away any expectation, any press cuttings etc.. Look at gnr with respect to album releases, then you are looking at one of the best bands ever in the history of music, And that is all that matters at this moment in time

If Axl were never to release anything ever again, then so be it. That is his perogative

The perspective you are looking at, the one that has supposedly destroyed gnr  hihi is a perspective created by the media, by expectant fans, by people that dislike Axl and Dizzy's aunt, bless her cotton socks and her pink and purple hair

That is my opinion

I really don't understand why Booker deserves to be attacked over the comments he made. Many of us agree with him.

I totally respect Aunt Ger. I think it's wonderful that she posts here and is so supportive of her nephew. I even thought people were being too hard on her for demanding her to get answers from Dizzy for us.  However, I completely disagree with what she said.

I mean no disrespect to her, but the fact is she can't she the band through our eyes. She sees them through the eyes of a loving aunt. She is going to be supportive of them no matter what because of her personal connection to the band. Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but she can't expect everyone else to feel the same way about the band.

Our only connection to the band is their music but we haven't gotten a new studio album in 14 years. 14 years is a hell of a long time to expect fans to sit around waiting for the band to resurface. That's almost 2/3 of my 22 years on earth! Some fans may have no problem with waiting and dealing with all the negativity that comes along with being a fan, but there are those of us who don't want to deal with the same old bullshit time after time.

I don't think it's fair to judge a person as a fan unless you've been in their shoes. Do you know what it's like to have your lifelong dream of seeing your favorite band shattered because the lead singer decides he doesn't want to show up? Imagine what it's like to be at the actual concert, having set through the opening acts, only to  find out that the show isn't going to take place after all.  Do you know what that is like? Especially when the band doesn't respect their fans enough to offer an apology or an explanation and they just disappear for over a year. That's only one example of the shit we have to deal with being GNR fans.

I don't like being accused of not being a good enough fan because I'm tired of all the shit that is thrown at us. I consider myself a great GNR fan because I absolutely adore the music they gave to us, but that is in the past. I am not a fan of this new band because that have done absolutely nothing to earn my support or respect. They may win me over someday, but until they actually do something there is no reason for me to give them my unconditional support.

HEY!  You stole my words!

that?s EXACTLY what I think, maybe Aunt Ger, Mysteron and others don?t look at GNR the way we ( "ordinary" fans, people that dont "know" any inside info or people close to the band ) look, cause the only thing we can see is a band (?) that just come and say "hey, we?re alive! this is our news... " and "bla bla bla" , then just DISAPEAR ... then some years ahead come back with the same old situation... but we can?t just say "calm down, the plan is going well ... "  Lips Sealed

This is one of the best and most thought out and non judgmental posts ive read in along time... I like the way you pointed out the good in both side of this stupid argument..  bottom line is were all here for the same reason....if its family connections, musical likes, personal history...we all visit and post for the same damn reason.....lets call a truce shall we?

Maybe it's that. Maybe it's age though. I'm late 30's. By nature, I have learnt not to expect too much from people. I'm quite a chilled person

Many bands in the history of music imo have cancelled concerts, been there, done that blah.... I'm going to Rio in May for gnr. If they turn up, cool. If they don't, then I will enjoy the experience anyway. I'll go to have a few beers, have a laugh, listen to some good music and enjoy the experience.....and I will do that whether gnr are there or not

I've been a fan of gnr for a very long time, but I have also learnt to appreciate how they function

Well, its been hardly "Poor Booker," just reasonable people saying they agree with my posts.  The "Booker the asshole" part is right-on though.

Great post, GirlGunner.

Girlrunner........sorry you don't agree with me,but glad you respect me anyway. And you are wrong in saying that I love the band because Dizzy is in it. I loved GN'R music before he signed up. And no one is getting older by the day then I am.......give me a break! I just turned 55!! I've been waiting to hear new tunes as long as anyone else, but being pissed about it isn't gonna get it out any sooner. Imagine seeing me in a car next to you at a traffic like blasting out Chinese Democracy when it surfaces. My hair can't get any gray/whiter or whatever. And if you don't want to sit around and wait for it, then fine. Move on to listening to some other band. And I know what it's like to have GN'R not show up for a concert. It happened to me too, but I didn't take it out on Dizzy, and bitch at him about it. Shit happens!! That's part of life. I get on with mine, and hope you don't sit and wait for CD to come out and then complain that you waited so long for it and it wasn't as good as you thought it would be. They'll always be those that criticize anything and everything that GN'R does.  peace

GirlGunner,
That was an exceptionally good post.

Aunt Ger,

You don't seem to grasp the fact that just because we are here discussing Axl, his band, and the delays does not mean we aren't going on with our lives.  GNR is obviously our favorite or one of our favorite bands, so naturally we're going to be discussing it under any and all circumstances.  That doesn't mean we are obsessing over what Axl does or doesn't do and it doesn't mean we're not out there rocking our asses off to other music.

There is no better example than myself to attest to that fact.  Yeah, like many people, I'm here every damn day discussing the same shit over and over.  But you know what?  I also have around 570 CDs in my collection that I listen to as often as possible.  I also attended 9 concerts last year.  I've already been to one this year, and I've got tickets for two more already, and hopefully more to come as the year progresses.  I also belong to several other message boards like this one, only they are devoted to other bands.  I belong to a Motley Crue board.  I belong to an Ozzy Osbourne board.  I occasionally visit AC/DC boards.

So in summation, just because I am here offering complaints and criticism, points and counterpoints regarding Mr. Axl Rose and his band, does not mean I am dwelling on him and not living my life as I should.

I hope we're done with the "poor Booker / Booker the asshole" thing for now.

hihi

Obviously by posting what he did he knew he might get attacked. Same thing when you post negative comments about Steven in the Ex-Gunners section. Right Dizzy?

 ok

Does this band still have a guitar player?? Aunt Ger? Mysteron, Axl, anyone???

At the very least, they still have Robin Finck and Richard Fortus.

such bullshit. you'll eat your words when guns n' roses are on stage again

You just made me smirk, there, young fellow.  You know why?  Because I have heard that "you're going to eat your words" statement made about 1000 times over the past three years.

From the beginning, I said that Axl was going to have an extremely difficult time holding it together on his own.  Given his past dispositions, I didn't feel this was a ludicrous, uneducated assumption on my part.

But I can remember the kids on MTV.com (and later this site) telling me I was going to eat my words when Axl hit the stage for the 2001 European tour he had planned.  But then it got postponed.  But still, they told me to wait and see.  The European tour got rescheduled for December 2001.  They told me to just wait until Axl was onstage kicking ass at that tour.

Then after that got cancelled, Axl did a show in Vegas, telling everybody that he didn't even know he had a European tour to begin with.

But still, the young-uns defied me to doubt Axl, and told me to wait and see, and that I would eat my words.

After 8 months of nothingness from Axl, the overseas mini-tour came.  My detractors were ecstatic.  They said "SEE!  We told you Dizzy!  Now you're really going to eat your words!"

Then came the VMAs, and despite Axl's remarkably poor showing that night, it nonetheless served as fuel to the fire of the Axl faithful and their ammo against me.

Then came the "Chinese Democracy World Tour".  Axl's apostles were again ecstatic.  They rubbed it in my face as much as possible.  They continued to rub it in my face even after Axl didn't show on the very first show of the tour.  They continued to rub it in my face despite all the horrible reviews by every critic on the planet of the shows that Axl did perform.  They continued to rub it in my face despite the incredibly poor attendance ratio.  For the record, Axl sold an average of 7,344 tickets in venues that seated between 16-18,000.  Only two of the shows were sellouts, and they were only in the biggest and most populated cities on the tour (Boston and New York).

But then came the infamous Philly incident.  Axl's second no-show in a tour already plagued by Axl's tardiness, poor attendance, and terrible reviews, not to mention Axl's venomous tirades against the former bandmates who helped make GNR what it is.

And so the tour was cancelled by the frustrated promoters.  Since then (a period of nearly 16 months), not one word from Axl.  Silence.

Oh, and did I mention that, despite his repeated promises to deliver, Axl has yet to release an album?

Wow.  I really ended up eating my words like all my critics boded that I would, didn't I?

So in conclusion Mr. Speed_stone....

You (like so many others before you) say I am going to eat my words, you say Axl will prove me wrong.  My question to you is, how many more times will Axl prove me right before he finally proves me wrong?
