after dec 5th/6th 2002... its all gravy to me
what i mean is that after philly - i thought it was all over
we didn't know if axl was okay
we didn't know if there still WAS a GN'R
we didn't know if there was going to be an album
things did not look good or promising at all
months after we slowly heard things
and since then we keep hearing things here and there
hey, we even heard from Axl himself in March of this year ?Smiley
so to me... ?fans of the new GN'R have a lot to be thankful for
whenever you get to a point where you are not feeling you have reason to be happy/thankful/hopeful.. etc.
just recall where we 'stood' on Dec 6, 2002

when the album comes out and GN'R plays some shows .... ?drool
on 12/6/02 i woulda given a lot to just know that was still something to look forward to
know what i mean? ?yes

Now thats what I consider "the perfect post."  I totally agree.

I remember back in 2001 when they played in Brazil, I thought "maybe something's gonna happen this year". Just like it did in 1991. Nothing happened.
First
Then the 2002 tour, I thought "Well, maybe they're gonna release it after this introduction tour in 2003", nothing happened.
Second
This year people heard the November release date on VH1 and assumed they knew what they were talking about. Nothing happened.
Not yet, but......
Third time lucky maybe?? Grin

thanks Smiley
ya see... thats the thing
there are MANY MANY optomistic fans
its just that the pessimistic tend to be more verbal

bitching, whining, moaning, and complaining is also a lot more noticable than NOT bitching, whining, moaning, and complaining  Grin

Oh yeah, because a press release about another depature from the band is something to be thankful over. I think that just shows the sad state the band is in if you have to look to such an event as being a step up.

Yes, 2004 was a good year for GN'R, because one member left, we got one message from Axl in which he said there would be no GN'R @ RIR4 and hinted a chance for a release date announcement, which didn't happen, we got a rumour about the November release, which was wrong. I hope that 2005 will be even better!

It doesnn't make great reading. But I'm grateful for Tommy's album / Velvet Revolver - more than we got in 2003 from any of the previous and new members of GNR.

Hopefully there will be something in the nick of time before the end of the year to compensate!

no... it's all relative is what I'm saying
i'm not saying it was good news to hear Axl confirm Buckethead's departure
nor was it good news that RIR 4 appearance was cancelled

BUT it was actually great to hear Axl speak about continuing plans to release CD
like I said - after the tour was cancelled we did not know if there was going to be an album anymore or a band anymore for that matter
for those of us who can appreciate it... that was good news

Except that we knew the band still excisted and CD was still in the works before we had a press release about another departing member. We knew this stuff from Dizzy, Tommy, and when they announced Rock in Lisbon. We didn't need a press release about a departing member and a cancelled show to know this. So I still don't see what there is to be thankful in a press release that was about something negative.
