I respect everyone opinions on this song, but I still think it would be big hit on the radio.

Perfect timing for the spring proms, and summer months.

I used to work for a label and picked a few singles, so I have a little
bit of experience in this sort of thing.

I'm still sticking with what I believe, and I can hear this song tearing up mainstream rock stations everywhere.

And now it seems that I
Gave up my ghost of pride

After reading the interview with del I'm more leaning toward the idea that this song in essence might be about the band with the heroin heroine being his muse.
Also omnipresent, the muse is not something you can see as you wish.

EDIT:belatedly to correct the awful spelling mistake  Embarrassed

I'm sorry, but I just don't see heroine being Axl's muse.

I just don't think Axl was that into drugs. This song is far too romantic to be about drugs.

Thanks annie had you not disagreed on my incorrectly typed sentence, the error would be left overlooked and I would be misunderstood.

lol... I thought you meant the drug at first too! I was thinking to myself how i've heard some strange song interpretations but that one had to be the biggest leap  Grin

ANYWAY, how do you see it as about the band? I can see what you mean and it could be, but i'm wondering what about the song/interview made you think so?

I thought you meant the drug too!  Must admit, scratched my head a bit over that one!  Went home, listened to the song, and thought 'naaaa, I still don't get it'.  Better now, much less confused.

the part axl tells he too was missing something vital for music around after the illusion era .
and that it seems to me that he deeply loves the band as if it was a child he's raising.
I gonna find the quote.

Edit: to again correct the mistake. Embarrassed

and I did so

"I prefer listening to others in general, especially those who both push their talents and infuse them with a level of energy that I've seldom heard in his efforts over the years. I'm not taking anything away from the man that are his to claim for his past efforts; it's just that for whatever reason for me, whether the approach, style or basic hands-on technique is there, the passion and true dedication to the art of guitar in his chosen area other than being, in my opinion, a whore for the limelight has generally seemed absent or lacking with most efforts for a long time. To me, it's sad. I don't get it. Where does it go? Is it a choice? Sometimes it's there on covers; I think Clive [Davis, legendary record executive] fell for that.

It wasn't there with me on 'Sympathy [for the Devil]' or ['The] Spaghetti [Incident?'] and it took years for me to get there again, in my opinion, and in the ways I wanted it to be. Will I keep it? Who knows? I'd like to, but who can say?"

I think it's one of the most beautiful tracks the band ever wrote (bar: "Estranged")... It's easily to see why some might dismiss it on first listen as sentimental toss, but it's obvious Axl means it, which in turn makes it.
