Hatton was the underdog going into that match, he filled the MEN arena people, thats no mean feat for a British boxing event!

Overrated, well whoever said that needs shooting, he schooled one of the best P4P fighters in the world 3 weeks ago forcing him to retire at the end of the 11th, no mean feat either.

I hope Gatti beats Mayweather, if so that would be a hell of a clash!

Gatti Vs Hatton =  drool

In fact Hatton vs Mayweather =  drool

The heavyweight division is stale at the moment, you win one fight, you get a title shot, weird but true, its that shit.
It needs an injection of something, some young bastard, hungry to win and beat opponents with KO's, slick combos, power punches and the Charisma of Cassius....

.....it needs me!  Cheesy

People(the general public) will always watch because of what he has done in the past, people who follow boxing and other high contact sports like myself and maybe yourself, will not watch because they would prefer to remember the old Tyson, who used to tear through opponents, KO after KO after KO, relentless aggression and hunger.

I dont wanna watch a 40 year old man, lose to some bouncer they pulled out the local club who does "a bit" of boxing training.

If Tyson wants to make some real money, he should perhaps move to PRIDE or K-1 to do MMA or kickboxing, he could get a lot of money from K-1 if he chose to Fight Bob "The Beast" Sapp on a Supercard show.

Now that would be one tyson match i would love to see, Bob is always exciting and a little funny at times because he really cant take a punch and he looks like a falling tree when he gets Knocked down.
However, he can punch like a motherfucker and would probably kill Tyson if he landed.

I would have liked to remember him the old way.. I grew up watching him kill through the 80's then teh big holyfield match.. I remember tyson was supposed to be at wrestlemania then buster douglas won.. I was so sure it was nothing I missed it.. problem is I am still being like a kid I keep thinking tyson got back on track and got some heart back.. But then i see him weighing 230+ when we know he killed at like 219 1/2.. Such lack of good heavweights I just watch, not only for g=fighting but the idea he might do something nuts.. Kind of became like jacko, their talents diminished now everyone wants to see what crazy stunt they pull..

Martin Sanchez: A Brave Warrior
Who Will Not Be Forgotten!

July 3, 2005

By Mike Sloan

There?s nothing like hearing horrible news when your day up to that point has been a splendid one. On the night of July 1, Mexican workhorse Martin Sanchez was knocked out in the ninth round against Russian contender Rustam Nugaev. After leaving the ring and Mardi Gras Ballroom inside the Orleans Hotel and Casino on his feet, I felt bad for the kid as he tried his damnedest to win his fight, only to fall short and fall victim to a knockout.

From there, it was back to normal in Las Vegas for everybody in attendance as Sanchez strolled back to his dressing room to clean up and lick his wounds. Little did he or anyone else surrounding know what was to unfold.

The next afternoon I was sitting on my couch watching the boob tube when my phone rang. I missed the call, which was from Fightnews.com editor Karl Freitag. His voice and message seemed a bit rushed and uneasy when I checked my voicemail, so I immediately called him back. Karl asked me if I had heard anything about the possible passing of Martin Sanchez, the tough kid who had fought on the fight card I covered on the previous night. Of course, I heard nothing of the incident so Karl and I scurried to call everyone we knew who would know the truth.

After several minutes, Karl called me back and informed me that Martin Sanchez, in fact, had passed away Saturday morning. Once I heard the terrible news, my eyes watered and a lump in my throat formed. ?Wow, this sucks,? I told Karl. ?This is terrible. Man, this is just horrible news.?

From there I hung up the phone and pondered what possibly went wrong the night before. Over and over I replayed the fight?s action, how referee Kenny Bayless monitored the fight and how Sanchez took the ten count from his knees. I couldn?t scrounge together any sort of mistakes on anybody?s part for the unfortunate death of young Martin Sanchez.

Sanchez was taking a moderate beating at the hands of Nugaev and was finally dropped late in the ninth courtesy of a left hook. Sanchez, sensing he had little chance to overcome the adversity, decided to stay on his knees while Bayless reached the count of ten. Once the fight had ended, Sanchez, who was already down his corner, was ushered onto a stool where his cornermen aided their fallen warrior. The ringside physicians performed their routine tasks of post-fight observations and everything seemed normal. Sanchez sat there on his stool for about three minutes and then finally stood up and left the ring on his own two feet.

Sanchez stood in front of the ropes before he exited the ring and once the ring announcer urged the crowd to cheer him on for being such a warrior, Sanchez raised his arms and was engulfed in applause. Sanchez soon left the ring, his head down, but proud that he gave it his all.

From that point, and I don?t know why this came across my head, I thought to myself that even if Sanchez never fights again, at least he left ring to a chorus of cheers and admiration. Even though he lost via knockout, at least he left in good spirits with the crowd fully behind him. That, at least, was a silver lining to what wound up being such a dark grey cloud.

Sanchez was an unknown commodity to both myself and most of the boxing media perched at ringside. Friday night was actually the first time Martin ever ventured outside of his native Mexico to compete and he was hoping that his American debut in the prize ring would be splendid.

I never knew Martin Sanchez. I never spoke to him before his battle and I never got a chance to walk over and congratulate him for being so brave and tough. He was a handsome 26-year-old who was trying to make a living as a professional boxer on the side and it cost him his life. While nearly a thousand men (and women) have lost their lives competing in the Sweet Science, it still comes as a shock when one of ?our own? pass away due to injuries suffered while ?at work.?

As of the time this article went to post, I was unable to reach any members of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, any members of Sanchez? team and/or family and was unable to contact Nugaev. No official reasons were given as to why Sanchez passed away; whether he had some sort of pre-existing brain trauma or if the cause of his tragic and untimely death were directly the result of his fight with Nugaev. What is known, though, is that Sanchez collapsed in his dresing room after the fight and was rushed to the hospital. Surgeons operated to relieve the swelling and bleeding on his brain, but Sanchez was unable to pull through. He passed away in the morning.

The only good that can possibly come from such a horrible incident such as Sanchez? passing is that maybe the sport of boxing will finally work together and form a unified worldwide boxing commission. Hopefully each state and country will perform the most extensive pre-fight tests including mandatory CATScans, MRIs and everything else under the sun and hopefully enough governmental funds can create such tests. Even if MRIs and CATScans are annoying and time-consuming to most, they are well worth every second and penny to ensure that every possible avenue has been taken to ensure that no fighter will ever lose his or her life again while boxing.

As of right now, I am not certain as to the extent of Martin Sanchez? pre-fight physicals and I don?t know what the exact circumstances are that caused his death. If he was 100% physically fit to fight and he wound up dying solely from the punishment he took from Nugaev, then his death was an unfortunate turn of events that seriously couldn?t be avoided. Bayless performed perfectly as there truly was no instance within the nine rounds where he should have stopped the fight. Sanchez, while in his corner, looked worn out and appeared a bit reluctant to allow their fighter to enter the ninth round, but it seemed more because he was tired and bleeding from both his broken nose and busted up mouth.

Sanchez didn?t suffer a brutal beating like the one that ?Kid? Paret endured in his fatal third match with Emile Griffith. He also didn?t absorb the sort of punishment that both Arturo Gatti and Rocky Gannon are known for. Sure, he was systematically broken down, but the punches he took were pretty much just like every other slightly out-gunned foe had taken.

So what can be done about this?

Aside from extensive pre-fight brain scans for every fighter before every fight, maybe state and worldwide commission should make post-fight scans mandatory as well, no matter how many punches were absorbed in the heat of battle. It?s a great idea, but what is so sad is that the fact that such tests command thousands of dollars each time around. Who will actually pay for it? That answer may sadly never be answered. Let?s just hope that tragic deaths such as the one Martin Sanchez? suffered will be avoided in the future.

Rest in peace, Martin ?Bombero? Sanchez. Though I never met you personally, I will sorely miss you, just as will everybody else involved in the brutal sport of boxing.

Sanchez (May 3, 1979 ? July 2, 2005) finished his career with a respectable professional record of 13-9 with 10 KOs. - Boxing News

That's all BS. It's a tournament Fenech was thinking about doing, but absolutely not with Tyson. Tyson isn't going to fight again.

U like boxing gunna girl? thats cool!

October a huge fight has been signed

Roy Jones Jr vs Antonio Tarver III

Jones won a decision the first fight, Tarver landed a lucky punch and knocked Jones out in fight 2

fight 3 will be classic

Bernard Hopkins vs Jermain Taylor was a classic

Taylor won the fight and the belt by split decision

Personally I thought it was a draw

Taylor won more rounds but Hopkins won the fight cause he did way more damage and landed a lot more punches.

let me say I just watched the hbo replay of wladamir and samuel peter.. I have to say fucking boring as hell.. All the fucking holding, wladamir is so damn boring.. he falls all over the place like some old broad.. he barely even got hit and he was dropped numerous times.. Any decent fighter shoyuld drop him in a second.. He looks good at the start with the jabs using his height, but then it becomes a few lame punches with tons of holding.. Then undercard with cotto was a great sluggfest

wladmir won, but it just was boring and typical of these tall stiffs
