Title: Join the HTGTH 2008 Nascar season Yahoo league!!
Post by: axlrosegnr on February 08, 2008, 11:54:28 PM
It's that time of the year again. Daytona is in 8 days. Is anyone else a fan? (I know there are a lot of F1 fans here, and I know that most F1 fans hate Nascar, so if that's you, please don't post in this thread) I created a Fantasy League on Yahoo, so If any other Nascar fans want to join, PM me your email address and I'll send you an invite.

EDIT: if anyone wants to join, follow this link:  http://racing.fantasysports.yahoo.com/auto/register/joinprivategroup

The group ID is: 24371
The group password is: axlrose

Very happy to see Dale Jr. win the race last night. He looked great and he's car was very dominating.

I really hope this is only the start to a fantastic season for him. : ok:

Hahaha, I remember you guys from last year!

Junior fans wo0o0ooo00!!!

Yes, he won the Shootout, that was very exciting.  I can't believe Stewart did so well!  But the high line prevailed at the end.  Good push from Johnson, it's good having 3 very good teammates.

Yeah, I'll join the league, what the hay.  :)

I have mine from 2005, but now I'm faced with a dilemma.

Do I go with the Mountain Dew jacket, or the National Guard jacket?

Well, The AMP/Dew colors are a lot better lookin than the Guard...and I am a fan of Dew, so that's probably what I'll end up doing, not this year though, I might as well get some use of the Bud jacket, and it's only three weeks till I'm at the Vegas race! best party of the year!

He passed Newman all by himself!  Almost wrecked doing so, I had flashbacks of the Atlanta race from 2004.

I hope his engine holds up and he can stay out of trouble!

(Those Gibbs boys look pretty strong as well, gotta look out for Stewart and Busch!)

The Penske boys came on at the end.

I'm just happy Toyota didn't win!

Poor Junior had NO help out there.

Too bad for Jeff Burton. It would have been really cool to see him win if Dale Jr. couldn't. Once the Dodge and Toyota teams got on Jeff's bumper, there really wasn't anything more he could do.

The thing that killed Junior was staying out during the last two cautions.

Fresh tires would have gotten him to Victory Lane.

Oh, here are the standings after Daytona.

2    GCR    268
3    Shake and Bake    244
4    Brian's racers    220
5    Deadbeat Garage    206
5    Gunners    206

One thing i'm not sure of, Is why pick 4 when you only use 2? If we had to stick with the drivers all season i'd understand....
In case of any pre-race incidents or something?

Although you only use 2, I believe the non active drivers will still earn points if they get the pole. Which, also remember from no on, the deadline to select your drivers is before qualifying begins. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can only pick each driver a maxiumun of 9 times, meaning he can only be an active driver for 9 times

The only change it is letting me make is placing checkmarks on different drivers that I had last week, and that's it!  Can't seem to change which drivers I want for this Sunday.  :-\

There was a race back in 1997 or 1998 at Atlanta that ran until 2:00 A.M., I think.  Jeff Gordon clinched the championship that night.

I'm glad I'm not attending the race tomorrow.

California Spee...ummmm, "Auto Club Speedway" is the lamest excuse for a racetrack ever.  That whorelicker Gillian Zucker has turned the facility into a laughingstock.  Have you guys seen the blue walls?

Two Hendrick cars out in one fell swoop.

I'm kinda happy in a way.  You reap what you sow!  (Regarding the nasty weather in Fontana.  That's karma for ya.)

And NASCAR too!  They should have just waited to start the race tomorrow.  Here's the forecast for tomorrow from weather.com

Precip:           0%
Sunshine along with some cloudy intervals. High 67F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

well, Edwards got it. After I thought Gordon with his dominant run last  night was going to win it. Montoya had a top 10 car , b4 the last pit stop he was 11th, but It seems he hit the wall , not hard though, but hard enough to damage the aerodynamics ended in 20th. better than the 26th last year. Man that was a long f... race,  Watching the nationwide now. It's astonishing how some of the drivers from the cup race are running this one as well.. great athletes.. One more thing. If Kyle Busch gets a decent result in the nationwide race, he could finish as the leader in all three series.

Single file racing the whole way through.

Yawn.  It was like watching Formula 1.

Yawn.  It was like watching Formula 1.

I've never liked the California race cause of that exact reason. It looks just like everyone is out driving on the interstate. Everyone is all spread out. Just the same with the races at Chicagoland, Pocono, Kansas City, Michigan, and Homestead-Miami.

Boring.

Single file racing the whole way through.

Yawn.  It was like watching Formula 1.

Hell, what am I saying!  Formula 1 was good last year!

Homestead is good now that they have added banking.  I can't believe that they built Chicagoland and Kansas in the same manner!  And they both opened in 2001!  Talk about being uncreative!

We need more short tracks on the schedule.  And no more D-shaped ovals!

Yes. I think it would be cool to have another track like Bristol. Maybe, even a third road course would be interesting.

California with 2 races is too many!
Texas with 2 races is too many!
Pocono with 2 races is way too many!
Dover with 2 races is way too many!

Dover and Pocono.

1,800 miles of racing between the two tracks.

Let's dance with The Lady in Black twice, build a short track in New York, and level Pocono!

I want to see another super speedway added, and another road course. To many cookie cutter tracks.....Vegas used to be a boring race, but since they added the banking last year it got better....I'm hoping for a good race in Vegas this year, at $257 a pop it better be!!

I do think if NASCAR backs another track being built, it will be built in either Seattle/Northwest area somewhere or New York. But to think Seattle and all the rain they get year around, would be crazy trying to get a race in without weather delays and postponements.

I love restrictor plate racing!

The racing in Vegas will be better this year, because you will have more rubber laid down, and you will have more racing grooves.

Have a GREAT time dude!

Yeah, Seattle is out...unless they move a Pocono race there in the summertime.

From what I've heard, There may be second Nascar event here in Vegas in 2009, which is good for me, seeing that I can go to two races a year, but I do agree, it would be better for the sport to add a different type of track.

That's the only way Bruton gets more racing.  He buys up other tracks.

See: North Wilkesboro and Rockingham

I m kind of new to this NASCAR stuff, But the SuperSpeedway races are definitely my favorites. There's nothing better than to watch 3 wide racing at 190 MPH. But I also think there should be at least two more road courses, and at least one in the chase. There's where one can see all the qualities of a great driver. Again 7th int the standings for today's race// I hope some improvement for next week by not choosing Jr :hihi:

Yes, a road course should be in the chase!  I do expect Jr. to run well in Vegas....last year he was having a great race till he screwed up royally with about 5 laps to go and "accidently" drove down pit road.....his test session in January was good here too, so, unless he runs into some bad luck, I expect at least a top 10........Keep an eye on Montoya too...his testing here in January was great, one of the fastest.

But he won't be on my roster this week.

It was just announced on NASCAR on ESPN 2 that the president of California Speedway is considering turing the track into a restrictor plate track...which would totally reconfigure the track, add banking, ect.....

I think this would do a lot of good for that track....in the past they could never sell out a race, racing overall has generally been boring, they lose fans that would rather come to the Las Vegas race a week later and only 200 miles away, and the list goes on, especially after this past weekends mess

that's a great idea.. Wonder how long it'd take to add banking to those turns..

In 2006, they added 8 degress of banking to the Las Vegas track. They started in March after the Cup race, and were done by September for the Truck race, granted California is another half mile longer, and much wider, but I bet they could do it in 6 months if they really wanted too

If they start now, they can have an extra month.  But, I think we will see it next February.  They have to plan it and get all the necessary permits.

Also, will NASCAR approve?  I know they want to maintain a presence in the Los Angeles market, but will they approve of having 6 plate races?  And the drivers?

I think Nascar would approve...ratings have been slowly declining, and restrictor plate races are by far the most entertainng racing nascar has, IMO, and overall the Los Angeles market does need a change...as far as the drivers go, well, some love those races, some hate the races, but the bottom line is, if the fans aren't entertained, then those drivers don't have a job.

A few thoughts about the race...

That "Let's Go Racing Boys" song is really getting on my nerves.  I miss the old theme music.

If Dale Jr. hadn't spun his tires and in a way caused that wreck, he just might have gotten Carl on warm tires.

What was with all the right front tires failing?

And I am so glad Jeff and Tony are OK.

Hahahahaha, I can relate.  In 2005, Junior stayed out when the leaders went to pit road, and let during the pace lap.  The whole grandstand went berserk!  (He would blow his engine on the restart.)

Is Las Vegas a great facility?  Is that the only track you've been to?

Vegas is awesome, close to the city, great seating, new and clean...yes, it's the onlly track I've been to for a race, I've taken a tour of Daytona before though, but from all the people I've talked to that go to many races a year, they all say Vegas is one of their favorites...........I guess the Neon Garage is a huge fan favorite, but I didn't want to pay the extra money to go.

Yeah, he's been using the apron on just about every track....however, while i think he is a very talented driver, he's got a lot of luck on his side for those moves he makes, and i think he's gonna end up in the wall more often than not, he's going to end up hurting himself or someone else.

Yeah, and with NASCAR liking to hand out penalties as often as they do, I'm surprised they didn't do anything to him, even if they didn
t give him a penalty, I'm surprised they didn't tell him to chill out or else they would.

Those Toyota boys....

Actually, more like, those Gibbs boys...

Kyle Busch really impresses me.  I saw that pass he made on the apron in the Truck race, holy cow!

Yeah, he's been using the apron on just about every track....however, while i think he is a very talented driver, he's got a lot of luck on his side for those moves he makes, and i think he's gonna end up in the wall more often than not, he's going to end up hurting himself or someone else.

Nah dude, that was last year.

But you make a great point.  Did you see what he did to Dale Jarrett on the LAST FUCKING LAP!!!?!?!?!?!  That's how you  LOSE races.

Yeah, and with NASCAR liking to hand out penalties as often as they do, I'm surprised they didn't do anything to him, even if they didn
t give him a penalty, I'm surprised they didn't tell him to chill out or else they would.

Black flag him and give the race to Tony.  :hihi:

I'm in the mood for some physical confrontation on pit road.

That was a good race today. Full of excitement. I really thought it was going to be Jr's day.
BTW , I went to the race last night in Homestead, the Indy race, WOW. It was a f... great experience, those cars seem to be going 250 m/h at least  :hihi:. and I saw 3 doors down performing for an hour or so, all of this for the same price .

Junior always does this to me at Martinsville.  He leads the most laps and fails to win.

If there were 2 more laps, Gordon would have beat Hamlin.

I wonder what rear end grease smells like.  ???

I just happened to be at home watching qualifying yesterday and saw the wreck live. It was definitely scary and I didn't think Michael would get out the car that quick and walk away on his own power. But very happy is was.

Here's the video of yesterdays qualifying wreck in Texas:

I was watching it live too, and when he was taking his qualifying laps, I said to myself, "I hope he doesn't crash like he did in Martinsville!"

I had visions of Earnhardt's wreck when his car hooked to the right.  :nervous:

Thank God for the SAFER barrier.  If he had hit the concrete wall with that force, he may have been in bad shape.

I hope too that'll be the last race in Mexico. But I doubt NASCAR will pull it that quick. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one more race there next year before they pull it.

Yeah, I was watching the Laker game and as soon as it ended, I flipped over and I heard it.

Maybe if they found a better track to race at, that would be better.  But two road courses in two foreign countries?  :-\

I wasnt able to watch the race on Sunday. It seems I didn't miss anyhing. However, I dont see anything wrong in trying to attract a different audience for NASCAR. and I say it on personal Experience, as i didnt like it before but now I just look forward to every sunday to watch the race. What they could do is try to do it at a different track, or maybe a different country as it seems that the mexico track already ran its course... I cant wait for Talladega.

I don't see NASCAR growing international. Japan didn't do well for NASCAR several years ago, Mexico is fading now, and I doubt Canada will prove to be different. I think what should be done is give some of the old NASCAR tracks a Grand National race every year on a rotation basis.

MAAAN, what a race !!! It's one of the best races I ve seen so far.. from start to finish..

Montoya is showing why he is one of the best drivers out there, He stayed on the top 15 for most of the race, and the incident with Menard was isolated  and he showed that with the result. GO 42!!!. again awesome race, cant wait for Daytona in July. I ll be there..

just a little something to support my statement. \According to RacingOne:

Aaron's 499 Loop Data Leaders
Average Running Position: Denny Hamlin - 5.2
Fastest Early In a Run: Dale Earnhardt Jr. - 193.331 mph
Fastest Late In a Run: Michael Waltrip - 193.621 mph
Fastest Laps Run: Michael McDowell - 12
Fastest on Restarts: Kevin Harvick - 185.742 mph
Most Passes During Green Flag Conditions: Juan Pablo Montoya - 389
Laps In Top 15: Denny Hamlin - 180
Quality Passes: David Ragan - 243
Speed in Traffic: Dale Earnhardt Jr. - 193.205 mph

So close for Dale Jr. last night in Richmond. You could see how disappointed he was in his post race interview. He wanted it bad. Plus, it sucked that he went from a top 5 finish to barely finishing in the top 15.

Even though I like Hamlin because he's a Guns N' Roses and especially an Axl Rose fan, he brought out that caution deliberately so his teammate GAYle Busch can get caught up to have another run at Junior.  Junior had checked out on the field.  Why didn't NASCAR throw the black flag at Hamlin?  He obviously had a problem and was stacking up the field.

What really bugs me is that Junior doesn't have the fire and hunger his dad had.  If I were driving the 88, I would have taken out GAYle during the caution laps.  If I can't win, he can't win either.  And his attitude during the post-race press conference was sickening. (GAYle's)  As was Junior, who looked like he was gonna cry.  His daddy would have beat him up after the race.

Good for Bowyer though, he was in the right place and the right time and he deserved the win.

(What was up with Michael Waltrip fucking Mears in the ass like that?  There have been rumors in the garage area about his sexual preference, but that was just weird!  :nervous:)

I was kind of surprised Kyle went for it so hard. To me, Kyle clearly had the faster car and there were plenty of laps left for him to get around Dale Jr. I don't think Dale Jr. could have held off Kyle from passing with that many laps still left. It was inevitable Kyle would pass Dale Jr. I just wish it wouldn't have caused Dale Jr. to crash and lose that many spots.

After Dale Jr. was wrecked, I was happy to see a Chevrolet and Clint Bowyer go to victory lane.

In the end, it looked like Kyle backed off and didn't charge Clint Bowyer the way he did Dale Jr. I have a feeling he backed off on purpose. Cause if Kyle would have won that race, there could have possibly been a huge riot. Especially, after wrecking Dale Jr.

I've been having a run of hardcore shitty picks, lol.

The All-Star race this weekend should be a great race to watch, with no points on the line everyone's gonna be going all out. I really hope someone puts Kyle in the wall. Hard.

I really like the idea of the burnout contest before the race.  Al Gore must be going nuts!

Now that Bobby Labonte has re-signed with Petty, Biffle is a prime candidate for the fourth seat at RCR.

He would be a great spokesman for Cheerios.

I thought rumor was, Biffle might drive the #20 car if Tony Stewart decided to leave JGR.

He could really transform that Haas operation.  Scott Riggs isn't exactly....good.

I don't think anyone could properly payback Busch.  Because being the idiot that he is, he will come back and wreck the other guy the next week or even during the caution period!  Suspensions wouldn't work, maybe an outright ban would.

He really needs to eat some concrete to see how lucky he is to be in this sport.

(But dadgum it, he really reminds me of Earnhardt Sr. so I can't be too mad at him.  If only Junior had that same drive.)

Another thing about the Busch Bros.  They both have had their share of controversy, and I have to go ahead and question their parents ability to raise them.

Kurt was once riding high himself and now he struggles week after week. It's only a matter of time and I think Kyle's luck will run out and someone's going to get tired of his antics and put him out of a race intentionally.

And Kyle was a nobody at Hendrick.  The only reason he is doing so well now is because Toyota is making 20 more horsepower than the next leading engine shop.

There isn't a third Busch brother, is there?  :hihi:  I'm getting tired of them!

And it won't be long until Chevrolet catches up with Toyota on the horsepower. There's just no way Chevrolet is going to sit back and let this happen for much longer.

I sure hope there isn't another Busch brother on his way up.  ;D

I did hear Carl Edwards talk about this on Wind Tunnel the other night. His answer was kind of bogus about how he was driving the car and how others drive the car the same way. I didn't believe it though. It has to be in the set up.

Watch the cars go down the straightaway, they look like they are almost drifting but they are going straight!

I was hoping with the new car, there wouldn't be such a premium on aerodynamics, but it isn't the case sadly.

Dale Jr. wins at Michigan

Earnhardt wins on fumes

By MIKE HARRIS, AP Auto Racing Writer 46 minutes ago

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP)?Dale Earnhardt Jr. ended his 76-race winless string Sunday, coasting to victory at Michigan International Speedway under a caution flag with little but fumes left in his gas tank.

NASCAR?s most popular driver gave his new boss, Rick Hendrick, only his second victory of the season as he somehow squeezed enough gas out of his last fillup to go three laps beyond the regulation finish in the Lifelock 400.

A spin by Patrick Carpentier on the 203rd lap brought out the final caution and probably saved the victory for Earnhardt, who ran out of gas moments after crossing the finish line behind the pace car.

?It is what it is man,? the jubilant Earnhardt said. ?We were going to stay out there no matter what.?

Asked if he could have made it if the green flag had stayed out, Earnhardt said, ?We were going to stumble to the finish and probably not win the race. We weren?t going to finish. The yellow saved us.

?They can write what they want, but we won one.?

After leaving the team his late father founded to drive for Hendrick?s juggernaut this year, Earnhardt began the new phase of his career with two non-points victories at Daytona in February. But, despite running well so far this season, that promising start did not lead to any victories in the first 14 Cup races.

?We started out and he won the (Budweiser) Clash and the 150 (qualifying race) and we said, `We don?t have to worry about winning a race now.? Then nobody counted it because it wasn?t a points race,? Hendrick said in Victory Circle. ?We?ve been waiting for this. Been so close.?

Earnhardt was as relieved as he was joyful about his 18th career victory and first on Michigan?s two-mile oval.

?This is pretty meaningful because it?s with Rick,? he said. ?He?s such a great man because he?s been through so much. I?m glad to be able to win for him, for Tony (Eury) Jr., for the team for believing in me.?

It was a typical Michigan race, coming down to who saved the most gas at the end.

As the laps wound down, driver after driver was forced to pit for a splash of gas, but Earnhardt, whose last victory came on May 6, 2006, at Richmond, wasn?t about to stop.

Eury, the crew chief who followed Earnhardt to Hendrick, kept telling his drive to slow down and try to conserve gas.

It was still a big gamble with just over two laps to the scheduled 200-lap finish when former IndyCar champion Sam Hornish Jr. brought out a caution flag with a spin. That extended the race to overtime and, by the time the green flag waved again on lap 202, Earnhardt and his team had no idea if he could make it to the finish.

He did, barely.

Kasey Kahne, coming off a victory the previous week in Pocono, finished second and almost came up with his fourth victory in his last five starts, including the non-points all-star race last month in Charlotte.

?It was pretty close there,? Kahne said. ?We topped off there and I think we pretty much had the most fuel of anybody out there. We did the best thing we could do today to get a good finish. the team did a good job.?

Officials look over the car of Patrick Carpentier (10) as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. crosses the finish line ahead of Kasey Kahne (9), Matt Kenseth (17) and Brian Vickers (83) to win the LifeLock 400 win at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., Sunday, June 15, 2008.
Officials look over the car of?

Matt Kenseth finished third, followed by Brian Vickers, Tony Stewart and two-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.

Kenseth, who led several times, said he might have won the race if not for mishap in the pits on his last stop. A NASCAR officials, apparently thinking Kenseth was going to take four tires instead of two, walked in front of his car just as the former series champion started out of his pit. Kenseth didn?t hit the officials, but the hesitation cost him valuable seconds.

?I was hoping for some kind of break (from NASCAR),? Kenseth said. ?The official walked in front of the car as I was ready to go. It was either I run him down or wait for him to move. The car just came up short because of circumstances and strategy.?

Series points leader Kyle Busch finished a less than memorable three-race weekend with a 13th-place finish. The youngster, with 10 victories this season in NASCAR?s three top series, finished seventh in the truck race here Saturday, drawing criticism when he spun out Ron Hornaday Jr. near the end. Busch then flew to Kentucky, where he crashed and finished 30th in a Nationwide race.

But Cup runner-up Jeff Burton finished 15th Sunday and still trails Busch by 32 points, with Earnhardt 84 behind in third. Defending race winner Carl Edwards finished seventh and goes to next week?s race on the road course in Sonoma, Calif., fourth in the standings, 206 points behind.

What do you think about the July/Daytona race vs. the February/Daytona race? Which do you enjoy more? I'm pretty much a fan more of the July race now without a doubt. It's those lights and the race being on a holiday weekend Saturday night that makes it so much better to me.

Definitely the night race.

The 500 miler gets boring between the 2nd pit stop and the last 100 miles.

In the 400 miler, you have exciting racing the whole way through!

AND...with the late start time to the 500, they finish under the lights.  I see that as a sign of weakness, imitation that is.

Also, there is a lot of pressure that comes with watching the 500.  :-X

You hit it right on when you said the Daytona 500 imitating the 400. It's ridiculous in the first place to start the Daytona 500 so late in the day. And it's pretty weak to have it finish under the lights.

As far as this coming weekend in Chicago, I'm very happy to see NASCAR has moved both the Grand National and Cup races to night. This will make it a little more interesting to watch. Chicago has been another one of those tracks that's been plain out boring to watch for me.

With the new car, it will be worse!

Even though the track has several racing grooves, it is way too narrow and does not have enough banking.

With the old car, you could at least count on for some cool crashes, but with the wing on the new car, we won't even have that.

Tony Stewart released from JGR

By JENNA FRYER, AP Auto Racing Writer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)?Joe Gibbs Racing will release Tony Stewart from his contract at the end of the season, ending an incredibly successful decade in which they won two championships and turned the organization into one of NASCAR?s best.

Stewart was expected to address JGR employees Wednesday, with an official announcement planned later in the day. In a release obtained by the Associated Press, team president J.D. Gibbs called the parting ?bittersweet.?

Stewart?s departure opens the door for him to buy a NASCAR team. He?s had an offer since April to purchase the fledgling Haas-CNC two-car team.

Those Indiana boys are gonna make for some awesome teammates!  (Stewart and Newman)

If anyone can make the driver/owner thing work, it's Stewart.

Will Zippy follow?

I haven't heard if Greg Zipadelli will go with Tony or not. I sure hope he goess with Tony though.

I don't think Tony was ever happy with the switch in manufactures. He has a lot of Chevrolet interest, I think he even owns a Chevrolet dealership. I also heard there were people from Chevrolet pushing and hoping for this change as well.

I heard that Chevrolet bought out his contract with JGR!  :D

Here's how the Bowtie Hierarchy will look like.

Hendrick
RCR
Stewart/Haas
DEI

I just hope GM can continue supporting NASCAR.  They have taken big financial hits lately.

I'm hearing more of the same about Chevrolet buying out Tony's contract too.

It looks like Tony could be in the #14, #66(currently driven unsuccessfully by Scott Riggs), or #77 car for 2009. I hope he's in the #14 car. I can't wait for all the sponsorship talk to begin.

With the new car, it will be worse!

Even though the track has several racing grooves, it is way too narrow and does not have enough banking.

With the old car, you could at least count on for some cool crashes, but with the wing on the new car, we won't even have that.

FOLLOW THE LEADER FOR 400 MILES!

You were right on about the race last night. BORING! I couldn't even watch it. Watched most of the Tour de France replay and that was a hundred times more interesting than the live NASCAR event. Also watched a bit of the IRL until rain shortened that race.

GAYle won again.

More like, Jimmie gave the win to him.  I really don't like it when the leader takes the field down slowly for the green flag.  That is the best way to lose a race.  GAYle was right on his bumper and pulled out on the outside.

At least he got stuck in the mud while attempting to slide through the grass.

I wish Junior could afford that luxury.  :-[

ESPN/ABC take over for the rest of the season!

Anyone else notice with TNT the audio between the race and commercials is so drastic? Everytime I'm watching I have to press mute for the commercials because it's so damn loud.

For me, both the sound for the race and commercials are so loud. FOX is the same way on their coverage. I can barely hear the commentators sometimes because of how loud their pumping the volume up on engine noise and race noise. Talk about irritating. It drives me freakin' crazy that they do this.

ESPN/ABC would be perfect, except for one thing.

They need to take Brent Musburger out back and have him shot.

Yeah Jenkins. I guess I just enjoyed him back in the day when I first started watching NASCAR around 1992/93.

I can easily listen to the guys on MRN. They do a great job and the race coverage on the radio goes so smooth.

I grew up doing this exact thing with Auburn University football games. My father would turn down the volume on the television and turn up the Auburn Network on the radio.

I can't do this with NASCAR....lol.    It's either/or for me now.

Same here with the Lakers broadcasts when we still had the late, great Chick Hearn.  Costas who?

OH.  On a NASCAR note.

My cousin got me tickets for the California Sprint Cup Race on Labor Day Weekend for my birthday. (Bleh!)  :-X

Yes, I'll take pictures!  Oh and they came with pit passes!  If only I could meet Junior.....

Hopefully the California race will be better in person. Not good at all on television I have to say. Now the pit passes will be interesting and who knows, you just might have some luck and meet Dale Jr.

You definitely have to look for the Sprint Cup model girls. Especially the brunette girl who stands by the race winner in victory lane every time.  : ok:

Nope, I've been to 3 Cup races and they are just as boring.

I went to the October 1998 Talladega race and sat on the backstretch. It was pretty cool but I haven't been back since. I guess I don't have any intention in going back unless the right situation happened. The only sporting event I like to go see live in person is college football. Especially here in the SEC. I love the atmosphere on the campus of Auburn University. But like you said, there is great joy to be able to watch it from your couch in your apartment with the a/c on.

: ok:

BTW. What are pit lizards? Are you referring to the girls and/or prostitutes that mingle in the pits?

I would rather have a lobotomy than watch the race at the "tricky triangle."

Hey!   We have Watkins Glen in two weeks!  And Bristol after!

So in reality, we haven't had a "real race" since the Firecracker 400.

New Hampshire and Pocono were lame, they don't count.  Sears Point was a road course.

I can't remember the last time I saw a decent race!

I could stomach NH with the old car, it was almost like watching a Richmond race.

With the new car?  Forget about it.

There were only 3 passes for the lead the first time out.  That's F1 status!

What kind of passes do you have?  Hot or cold?  I hate to sound discouraging, but meeting Dale probably won't happen.  :(

If I were you, I'd think your best chance to see him up close would be during qualifying on pit road or in the garage when they are about to practice/stop practice.  Admission to qualifying sessions is usually cheap.  If you could get pit passes for that?  Hot passes are the best...you don't have to leave pit road when the cars are on the track.  I don't really know what all you are allowed to do with cold passes.  I know you have to leave pit road/garage when the track goes "hot," though.

Have you ever thought of watching the race on t.v. but listening to the radio commentary on nascar.com?   I don't do that...but it's an idea.  I'm not sure if it's free or not, though.  I always watch the race/listen to regular commentary, but have pit command up to listen to the radio chatter from Dale's team.  If you've not guessed, Dale is my favorite driver.

I was SO into NASCAR the last couple of years.  This year has just not been the same at all.  I blame it on this piece of crap car and Kyle Busch.  It's no fun to see him win so many races.  Hopefully, he's stalled out, though.  One can hope.   ;)  Jimmie's team has finally gotten things figured out and I expect him to be strong from here on out.  Now, Dale just needs to figure out how to drive Jimmie's set up. lol  Dale seems to have lost his consistency these past races.  With the Chase so close, every driver in the top 5 needs to be concentrating on wins for bonus points to close in on Busch.  It's crazy how this Chase is set up...I really don't like it.

On another note, the Brickyard enthralled me more than any race has in the past several weeks.  Just because you never knew what was going to happen with the tires.  At least it wasn't boring!  I actually watched the entire thing!  Pocono was better than I expected it to be, too.  I just hated that Dale lost his 4th place finish when he gave out of gas.  UGH!!!

Anyway, I hardly ever visit the board anymore...but was really bored today.  All my NASCAR buddies are busy and I've not had a chance to talk NASCAR in a while.   :-\  How have you been Drew?  Long time no see...my fault entirely, of course.

They're hot passes!  But the best thing would be to have a "hard card."  Only special folks like family members and people who work for the sponsors get them.  And of course, we all remember when Kurt Busch lost his hard card following his wild antics at Martinsville.  I know it won't be easy, even if I see him he'll be mobbed by a lot of fans.  I've had better luck with rock stars believe it or not!  :hihi:  But Junior is more than that. ;)

My interest has waned the last few years also.  The only thing that kept me in it was Junior switching teams.  They need to make a lot of changes to the new car.

I have fallen asleep during both Pocono races this year.  Both had rain delays and I missed the finish both times!

I don't have a laptop, so I can't do the nascar.com commentary thing.  But it is a worthy idea.  I've always thought of the idea, because I could get a lot more information and radio chatter than I can with the networks coverage.

DIRECTV's NASCAR Hotpass however, is the best.

And I'm guessing Dr. Jerry Punch didn't get his doctorate in racing, because he doesn't know anything about racing!  I may as well hit the SAP button on my TV!

Hot passes?  I'm jealous!  Those aren't easy to get, so who do you know?  lol  Another idea, see if Dale has any "hospitality" deals for the weekend.  If so, try to go to one of those.  You still might not get to meet him, since a lot of them are just question and answer things with no autograph sessions.  I don't mean to sound as if I think I know it all, because I most definitely don't.  I've only been to one race.  I did have a Hot Pass, though.  I saw Dale and other drivers, (mostly at a distance) but didn't meet any of them.  I figured that they were there doing their jobs and was determined not to be one of the "mob."

I don't have a laptop, either.  This past year, I had DirecTv set up in my computer room, though.  So it all works out for me.  This is my first year with Pit Command and I've really enjoyed it.  I actually have the Race View option, but my computer is so old that it doesn't load right.  hahaha  Last year, I had HotPass with DirecTv...but I really didn't think it was worth the money.  Of course, last year my hubby watched the races every weekend with me...and he's not a Dale fan.  So, he never wanted to watch the Dale channel.   Plus, there were those weeks where Dale wasn't a featured driver.  The thing I didn't like about it was that I felt like I missed what was going on with the big picture of the race.  I just can't focus on 3 screen insets at one time.  So, I really like watching on tv and listening to the scanner.  Plus, watching lap times on fox trax.  hehehhee  I will warn you about the pit command feature, though.  The radio chatter  lags behind the action on the track and if they get too feisty...the team can go "private."  I know of one time this year that Dale's team went private.  I think it was the Charlotte race after he got into the wall and went to pit road all those times.  Didn't hear a THING during that time.  :(

Last road race this weekend.  I'm looking forward to it just because it's different.  Hopefully all of our faves can finish up front.

I've done the hospitality thing twice.  Once, a few years back with Johnny Sauter's YELLOW team in the old Busch Series, and in 2006 I was a guest of Denny Hamlin's at the FedEx tent.  (Before my uncle retired, he was a big shot with some of the shipping companies here in Southern California.)  And they treat you soooooo well.  Awesome food, terrific gift bags, hot passes.....the works!  And you get to meet the drivers at the tent.

I don't do the DIRECTV thing either.  Only when they do the free previews at both Daytona races.  That way I can ride with Dale.  But I have to keep tabs on the rest of the field too, so I prefer the networks' coverage as well.

Too bad about the nascar.com thing, I guess I won't be doing that in the future.  I guess the same goes for Sprint's mobile phone coverage.

Dale says a lot of bad words!  When I get the scanner at the track, all I hear is @(#*@)*$!)!@#$%^&* between him and Tony Jr.  But it's always entertaining!

I love Watkins Glen so much.  I don't think Dale will win, but I think his Hendrick Motorsports teammate will break through with his first win of the season.  I wish Junior would win a few more races, just so he could rack up some bonus points.

Looking forward to today's road race since yesterday's race was pretty good. Hopefully the rain will hold off but if not, NASCAR better slap the rain tires on and go racing or I'm going to be pretty pissed.

Sukie and Archie, what do you think about a road race being in the Chase for the Cup? I think NASCAR should have a road race and I think Watkins Glen would be a better race than Sonoma. That is if NASCAR chooses from these two current tracks and doesn't go to an entirely different road course all together.

Archie, you were lucky to meet drivers at hospitality events.  Maybe it depends on how "big" the driver is.  I was able to attend Bud Hospitality at the race I went to...when Dale was a driver.  :)  There were no autograph or meet and greet sessions, though.  No gift bags or Hot Passes, either.  I'm not complaining at all...my tickets were free...didn't pay for anything track related except for food.  Ohh....and the ride along that I did.  Paid for that.

The bad words that Dale says over the radio are what makes listening to him such fun!  I love when he gets worked up and lets loose.  Unless it's endless complaining that is.

Drew, I'm not sure how I feel about including a road race in the Chase.  Only 2 road races a year, right?  I know a lot of people want one in the Chase.  The percentage of road races versus ovals is just off to me, though.  Guess it might add more excitement, though.

As I write this, Dale has been leading so far.  Of course, this totally scares me because he seems to be strong at the beginning and then fades or has a bad pit or a wreck or whatever.  :(  First pit stops are happening now, so I'm off to watch.

I see your point. What would you think about NASCAR adding a third road course to the schedule? This is just me, but there are too many boring races and tracks NASCAR goes to every year. And sometimes they go twice to some of the tracks which aggravates me big time. I like how the road courses give a different type of racing during the long continuously schedule of oval after oval.

Dale Jr. has run strong all year long and runs up front at the beginning of the race but than slowly fades back every time.  :-\

I really don't want more road courses...but I'd love more SHORT tracks.  The mile and half tracks are usually boring.  I wish they'd not built so many of those so called "cookie cutter" tracks.  If NASCAR was to include a road race, I'd rather it be the Glen.  From what the drivers say, it is more like their kind of racing.  It's faster and more fun for them than Sonoma.  I know that Dale hates Sonoma.  It's too technical for him.  The whole road race issue...in my  opinion, the drivers are in NASCAR because oval racing is the kind of racing they want to do.  If they wanted to have driven road races, they would have pursued driving in a different series.

Ohhh...I meant to tell you before.  If it rains, they'll stop the race.  There is no way that NASCAR is going to run a Cup race in the rain.  They'll do it for Nationwide,  but not Cup.

Dale always seems to have had the "fading" problem.  Even back to his days at DEI.  (not including the blown engines of his last year at DEI)  I listen to his scanner so I know he gives feedback about his car.  But, I do wonder if he gives the right information.  Hopefully, with all the Hendrick resources, he'll learn more about what the car needs if that's the case.

I like short tracks like Bristol. The Bristol night race is always interesting. The tracks I hate the most are California(Fontana), Chicago, Dover, Pocono, Michigan, New Hampshire, Kansas, and Homestead. I just cannot watch NASCAR racing at any of these tracks. BORING!

It's a good thing it didn't rain if your right about saying NASCAR would have parked the cars. It's pretty pathetic that NASCAR Cup can't run a road course race in the rain.

I was hoping Tony Stewart had something up his sleeve when they finally waved the green flag again. But Kyle just took off like usual and left everyone else in his dust.  >:(

A 40 minute red flag? It was a pretty bad wreck but I think that's a bit long for the cleanup crew.

Amateur hour at The Glen!

I know what you guys mean.  If the government wanted to test a new type of bomb at the California...Auto Club Speedway, I wouldn't object to it at all.  Kansas should swap dates with The Glen.  I really think a road course would shake things up in the Chase, and we really need that.

Guys, I will tell you why Junior always fades.

He has the worst crew chief on pit road.  It's too bad that he can't work with any other guy on top of the pit box.

Come to think of it, Junior isn't a very smart person either.  I guess they go hand in hand.  I have seen Tony Jr. and Sr. kill Dale's chances at going to victory lane so many times, it's ridiculous!  Why on Axl's green earth would you stay out when everyone else has gone to pit road?  Junior had a better car than Kyle Busch.

Speaking of Kyle, he will take the #1 seed when the Chase begins in Loudon.

NASCAR didn't even bring rain tires for the Cup Series at Watkins Glen.  They said that they would rather race on Monday than to run on rain tires.  Which is very lame.

We need more short track racing.  We only have 6 short track races on 3 short tracks.

I read online where there MIGHT be some racing in the rain in Cup by 2010.  lol  Maybe that would save us the drama of the California race at the start of the year.  Wasn't that the one that had weepers on the track, got rained out/red flagged, and finished the next day while we were all at work?

About Dale's pit crew.  I just get the feeling that Tony Eury, Jr. will always be his crew chief.  Just from what I've read about Dale, he has trouble trusting people/feeling comfortable.  From all accounts, he's pretty shy.  He has that comfort of working with someone he knows and trusts well in his cousin.  Remember though, that Darien Grubb is up there on the box each week, too.  He's like a co crew chief...so looks like the calls would be better.   Sometimes the calls are going to go the right way, sometimes not.  It happens to every crew chief.

I'm not going to talk about Kyle Busch.

We need more races like Richmond and Bristol.  (although Bristol hasn't been as good as it was)  I like the Phoenix track, too.  It isn't a short track but the race seems like it's a short track.

Oh well...hopefully next week will be better!

Yeah, California pulled a Texas.  Remember that huge wreck during the first race at Texas?  Took out almost half the field because of the weepers.

I complain about Eury because more often than not, the calls go against Dale.  His only gutsy pit call was the one that won Junior the race at Michigan.

Speaking of which, I hope Junior wins the race the right way this week to sweep Michigan!

They ruined Bristol with the progressive banking.

They ought to come out to Irwindale for a real good short track race, or to Indianapolis Raceway Park.  If those tracks made improvements, I don't see why they wouldn't come out here.  Ax Fontana and add Irwindale.  You can have a race in the L.A. market.  Hell, it's even closer.

I've only been watching NASCAR for 3 years now, so I don't remember the first Texas race.  :(

I'm telling you what...this season just gets longer for Dale fans.  I'm so discouraged.  I don't understand why Dale didn't pit when the leaders did.  He's been struggling (all of them have) with a loose car all day.  Yeah, he ran really strong at the beginning as usual.  Even when the car wasn't as good, he was still running top 10 the whole race.  Not anymore, though.  Back to the pit stop call...when you know that Carl Edwards has such a strong car and he pits, why not pit, too?  Maybe if he'd had some fresh rubber he wouldn't have hit the wall.

I hope that David Ragan finishes well.  He seems like a good up and coming driver.  I just don't want Busch to win again.  Why am I even bothering to watch anymore?

Drew, I'll have to talk to you when I'm not so grumpy.

Sukie.....it's okay, you can talk to me anytime.  Whether your grumpy or happy.  :-* ;)

Well, your boy Kyle Busch didn't when so that should cheer you up a little.  :hihi: For those of you who don't know, I personally nominated Kyle Busch as Sukie's Boy.    :-*

I can't be all that happy for Carl since he drives that Ford.

Concerning Dale Jr. Yes, he's struggling more and more here recently. I hate to say this but I think his string of good races has hit a bump in the road. I'm not sure the rest of the season is going to bring him good finishes. All of the Hendrick drivers had their problems today and finished out of the Top 15. I like David Ragan too but again, he drives a Ford.  :P Harvick had a decent 8th place finish.

Well, I started watching after Dale Earnhardt died, but I keep up with my history.  ;)

I will tell you why Junior didn't pit.

Tony Eury Jr. is still on the DEI payroll.  That, or he likes smoking Max Seigel's pole.

I'm only having fun with those topics, I just need an immature way to vent.

Junior should have a good race at Bristol, he always does well there, and Richmond too. I just want him to get some more bonus points so he can start third in the Chase.  But this business of starting off well and fading after the halfway point will not serve him well in the chase.

Where the hell are the other fantasy racing guys?  They don't even bother to say "peep."

Kyle Busch looked so sad after finishing second, I thought he was gonna cry.

JGR found to be cheating in Nationwide

NASCAR finds cheating after Nationwide race

By MIKE HARRIS, AP Auto Racing Writer 11 hours, 28 minutes ago

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP)?The two Joe Gibbs Racing cars that have dominated the Nationwide Series this season likely will face stiff NASCAR sanctions after team members were caught deliberately trying to mask the horsepower in their powerful engines.

NASCAR inspectors found magnets under the gas pedals of the No. 18 and No. 20 Toyota?s when the cars were sent to the chassis dyno following Saturday?s race at Michigan International Speedway. Tony Stewart finished third in the No. 20 in his final Nationwide race for JGR, and Joey Logano was seventh in the No. 18.

The two cars have combined to win 14 of Toyota?s 15 victories in 25 Nationwide races this season. To temper the domination, NASCAR last month ordered all Toyota teams to cut about 15 horsepower in their motors.

NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said the magnets were a quarter-inch thick and their placement was an attempt to hide how much horsepower the Gibbs motors still have even after the rule change.

?The intention was to manipulate the numbers that we get when we get our information and data off the dyno,? Pemberton said.

Joe Gibbs Racing president J.D. Gibbs said he and his father, owner Joe Gibbs, had no prior knowledge of their crew members intent and apologized to NASCAR and Toyota.

?That was a really poor, foolish decision on the part of our key guys,? J.D. Gibbs said. ?A couple guys chose to make a decision there that really impacts all of us.?

Gibbs said he wasn?t sure the crews tried to manipulate the dyno numbers. The JGR teams, behind esteemed engine builder Mark Cronquist, are thought to have some of the strongest motors in the industry.

?I know they were probably frustrated from the standpoint that wanting to show that, ?Hey, we have less horsepower than ever before? and they wanted to make it look like we?re handicapped even more than we actually were,? Gibbs said. ?I understand that, but that?s not an excuse.

?The engine shop, that?s kind of a badge of honor. You win that engine dyno, good for you. That?s kind of how we felt in the past few years, and Mark Cronquist and those guys really feel like they want to win that thing.

?The way I look at it, to come back after you?ve been chopped, to come back and win it again, that?s awesome,? Gibbs noted. ?That?s a great story. That wasn?t able to be told.?

Pemberton said NASCAR will meet this week to decide how JGR will be punished.

?I anticipate that we haven?t seen the end of it yet,? Pemberton said.

But J.D. Gibbs vowed the team will address the incident in-house.

?(We?ll) figure out exactly what happened and those that were responsible,? Gibbs said. ?There?s going to be punishment for that. That?s just part of life. You can?t do that.?

Joe Gibbs echoed his son?s thoughts in a sharply worded statement.

?If this alleged incident proves true, it goes against everything we stand for as an organization,? the former Washington Redskins coach said. ?We will take full responsibility and accept any penalties NASCAR levies against us.?

Lee White, president of Toyota Racing Development, said the company is grateful that the team stepped up and took responsibility and made it clear Toyota was not involved.

?I was surprised to see what was happening, and astonished and frankly incredulous,? White said. ?I couldn?t believe it was happening because it?s clearly defined in the entry forms that you don?t do this sort of thing. But I?m sure Joe and J.D. will take care of that internally and, whatever fans think, they?re going to think. We?re just going to keep working on our stuff.?

Pat Suhy, GM Racing group manager for NASCAR, said the actions by the Gibbs team raise more questions that stretch all the way to Toyota. The Japanese automaker is in its second season in NASCAR?s top two series.

?It?s not something that you like to hear about and you have to just question every chassis dyno that?s ever been run on every Toyota,? Suhy said. ?I don?t know is if it?s a Toyota problem, if it?s a Joe Gibbs thing, how widespread is it and how long has it been going on.

?It?s disappointing to hear that anybody, whether it?s a manufacturer or a team or an individual on a team would go to any length to do that. It?s bad for the entire garage, I think.?

Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush-Fenway Racing, which fields Fords in the Nationwide Series, called the Gibbs team?s actions ?extremely detrimental? to the sport and was confident NASCAR will address it.

?NASCAR will figure out what they should,? Roush said. ?If they?re going to make decisions based on parity, after they?ve given (Toyota) what they?ve given them with regard to parameters on their engine, based on flawed data that a team or the manufacturer, one of the other, had kited or shaved, that certainly is detrimental to my interests.?

This would be pretty cool. Any thoughts or opinions on this Sukie or Frank Costanza's Festivus Pole? I think it would be great to have an Atlanta night race instead of a California race on Labor Day weekend.

Source: NASCAR to race Atlanta at night

Racing source says night race planned for Atlanta

By CHARLES ODUM, AP Sports Writer 27 minutes ago

ATLANTA (AP)?NASCAR will run under the lights at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2009, The Associated Press has learned.

There?s more: The new night race is expected to be run on Labor Day weekend.

Atlanta Motor Speedway and NASCAR officials are planning to announce a schedule change Tuesday that will include the night race announcement, said a racing official who spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the change had not been made public.

Atlanta?s place on the racing calendar also could move. There has been speculation Atlanta Motor Speedway will be part of a three-way trade of race dates for next year?s Sprint Cup schedule that also involves the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and Talladega Superspeedway.

Atlanta would receive the 2009 Labor Day weekend race that?s happening this season in California. Fontana would receive Talladega?s fall race, while Talladega would receive Atlanta?s fall race, set for late October this year.

Fontana has struggled with overwhelming heat at its race on Labor Day weekend. The change would give the California track a spot in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Meanwhile, there also is speculation the Iowa Speedway will gain a spot in the Nationwide Series schedule and the Chicagoland Speedway will add a Craftsman Truck Series date.

I'm all for it!  Having a Cup race back in the South on Labor Day weekend is what it's all about.

Oh yeah, Darlington is located just north of Georgia *hint hint, nudge nudge*!  Just one step closer to having the Southern 500 back.

Too bad they are trading in one cookie cutter for another in the Chase.  California is like a glorified Kansas.

Did you hear that they want to add another Kansas race?!?!  *pulling hair out*

Indeed.  These posts will probably get deleted when the phantom mod comes online.  I still haven't gotten an explanation.  2 posts have vanished.

Anyway, I was explaining the Kansas situation.  (I think.)

Lisa France Kennedy (the most powerful woman over at ISC, a NASCAR company) said she would award Kansas a second date if they added a casino and a Hard Rock Hotel.

This will come at the expense of Martinsville losing a race.

I'm not telling anyone how to do their job, but at least you could edit any questionable comment(s) instead of deleting entire posts relevant to the topic.

Of course, I'm watching the Bristol race tonight!  What else do I have to do?    :nervous:

Seriously, though...I don't miss watching a race.  Or half ass watching it, anyway.  I've not missed watching one since I became a NASCAR fan 3 years ago.

I like the Ford drivers as much as some of the Chevy drivers.  It's not about manufacturer for me.  Now, my dad on the other hand loves Ford.  He hates Jeff Gordon with a passion and hopes he finishes last every week!

It's about to start.  My guy is starting way in the back.  Hope he doesn't get involved in an early wreck.  Other than that, I think he'll be o.k.  He's pretty good at Bristol.  He didn't look that bad during last practice.

Y'all have fun.  Keep your fingers crossed for Dale!  It's gone green so I'm off!

Well, at least Busch didn't win.  Busch is so pissed that someone raced the way that he races.   ::)  Seriously, he's bumped people.  He's wrecked people.  He's confronted people.  But when the shoe is on the other foot, it's a whole different story.  I'm listening to the post race show on nascar.com and Kyle always comes across as such an ass.  His immaturity is showing again.  To me, it just seems that he carries a chip on his shoulder.  I still can't stand him whether he's the best driver in NASCAR now or not.

Dale just never recovered from his first lap mistake.  The bright start to this season for him has lost it's shine.  I really thought that this would be the track where he started turning things around.  Oh well.

This race wasn't quite as good as Bristol before the repavement, but it wasn't as bad as the last one.

Hey!

I watched the race, and flew out to New York right afterwards pretty much!  Been dying to talk about the race.

Bristol blows nowadays.  Carl Edwards owns the night races there.

I like him even more now for doing what he did to Busch!  And since both are great at California, I expect to see them battle it out in person!  That will be good fun.

Fuck Kyle Busch.  Someone needs to wreck him just for the hell of it.

Junior Junior Junior....he easily had a top 5 car.

It was nice to see Carl not take any garbage from Kyle and totally spin him around like that after Kyle rubbed into him following the race.

Although, I wouldn't expect anymore retaliation from either of them now that they're both on probation. I don't think either one of them wants to get in trouble with NASCAR being how close they are to winning a championship. But......I could be wrong and the fireworks might just happen between those two.

I'm a little confused about who is going to the race.  Archie Bunker's Chair and Frank Costanza's F. P. are the same person?  Or not?  Well, whoever is going to be there in person, HAVE FUN!!!  I hope to see a "report" when you get back!

A brief summary of my usernames.

Garry
Larry
Eddie Van Halen's Tongue
Ted Danson's Private Jet
Archie Bunker's Chair
Frank Costanza's Festivus Pole

Yeah, the race is going to be boring.  Junior is going to finish a lap down and Busch and Edwards are going to kill each other.  OK, that part might be fun, but Fontana blows the big one.  I'm eagerly anticipating Richmond.

A full report will follow.  Heck, I still have to post my review of NY.

Lots of hot ladies at the race.  Unfortunately, we have laws in California against taking random pictures of half naked girls in public.  :hihi:

I took some pictures when I went, but I think we have a lot to discuss before I do so.

California was boring.  I kept praying to Axl for a quick end to the race.

Richmond was great.  Sure, Junior didn't win, but wrecking Kyle Busch really made my day.

If it comes down to Johnson/Edwards/Busch, I hope Johnson 3-peats.

These burgers set us back 30 bones.

My only form of entertainment during the race.

Junior in action!

Drew, you know where you can find the rest of 'em.  ;)

At least Kyle is in last place!

He's had three bad races in a row.

I think it's because I put a jinx on his car at Fontana!

 ;D

When Junior started fading back after going from the bottom to the middle lane, I called the wreck.

Half a lap later, it was on.

Fucking lame.

Yeah, you can thank Carl Edwards for that one. He not only took out Dale Jr. but he also took out two of his teammates as well. I wonder how the meeting went this morning back at Rousch headquarters this morning.

I'm happy Tony Stewart finally got himself a win in the cup series at Talladega.

Yeah, I was glad to see him win after finishing second to Junior so many times.

Regan Smith had a chance to pass him on the outside in the trioval.  Menard would have gone with him.

Chalk it up as a rookie mistake.

This Chase blows.  JJ will join Cale Yarborough in the elite 3-peat club.

This Chase blows.

Would you rather Kyle Busch be running away with the Championship?  :hihi:

But it blows if you're a Junior fan.

I didn't think so.

It does suck that Dale Jr. isn't even in contention now. I just hope Jimmie Johnson or another Chevy driver, gives Chevrolet a Championship.

Yeah, Edwards is gone for the night.

Junior blew a tire just now.  :(

If Johnson doesn't win, I hope Jeff Burton does.

Yeah, pretty disappointing season as far as interest goes. There just wasn't any really.

Congrats to Jimmie Johnson on his Cup title. I'm happy a he and a Chevrolet won the Championship.  : ok:

AND the manufacturer's title.

I really like Carl Edwards though.  Sure, he drives a Ford and wrecked Junior in Atlanta in 2004 and they engaged in a kerfuffle in a Busch Series race at Michigan, but I really like his style and aggressiveness.

The racing was horrible this year.  And 3 cars dominated.

Fuck Brian France anyway.

Yeah, Carl is a good guy but I just can't get pass the fact that he drives a Ford lol. Grrrr.....

He'll definitely be in the running again next year. Hopefully Dale Jr. can have a great season too in 2009.

Not with his current crew chief he won't.....

He cost him so many races this year.  He could have won at least five.

Going back to DEI, he cost him races as well and so did Eury Sr.

They need to get Darian Grubb on that pit box.

Tell ya what though, I like Junior and all, he's my favorite.  But he's dumber than a daytime soap opera actor.
